Year 4 had a fabulous trip to Bradford on Wednesday. The day started at the Gurdwara Singh Sahba, where the children looked around the Gurdwara and saw where the Guru Granth Sahib sleeps each night. They also inspected and asked questions about some Sikh artefacts including the 5 Ks, which each Sikh receives during initiation. They were captivated by all the sights and information.

After lunch, the children moved to the Science and Media museum. Here, the children were able to explore a gaming room with all past video games and machines. Also, the Wonderlab, where the children explored different sound and visual apparatus and had a talk about the solar system. To finish the day, the children watched a 3D film in the iMAX called T:REX.

Stars in Our Schools Stars in Our Schools

On Wednesday, our school proudly took part in Unison’s Stars in Our Schools Day. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the amazing work of our support staff, who do so much every day to help our pupils shine.

Our children were especially excited to present each member of the support team with a certificate to show just how much they are appreciated. Thank you to all our brilliant support staff: you truly are our stars! 🌟

The Christmas Fair takes place in the school hall on Thursday 4th December, 3.00-4.30pm. We will have some stalls selling 'pocket money friendly' items and a lot of games for the children to enjoy, plus a visit from Father Christmas!

One highlight of the fair is always the Christmas raffle. Thank you to everyone who has already donated prizes and bought raffle tickets on ParentPay. Raffle tickets will also be on sale at the Fair, where we will draw both raffles. This is a last call for hamper prizes to be left with class staff. The themes are:

Nursery = Christmas

Reception = Sweet Shop

Year 1 = Toy Shop

Year 2 = Yorkshire

Year 3 = Indulgence

Year 4 = Best of British

Year 5 = Around the World

Year 6 = Baking

Cakes! If you are able to bring in some home baking (marked with ingredients or allergens) or some store bought goodies, we would really appreciate it. We are running a cake stall at the Fair.

Thank you so much for everyone's generous contributions. We hope to see lots of families next Thursday afternoon in the school hall!

Christmas Dinner Christmas Dinner

Please remember that all children will be ordered a school Christmas dinner unless you notify rbingham@riponcathedral.n-yorks.sch.uk by Monday at the latest. Unless your child receives universal or economic free school meals, or you have told us about bringing a packed lunch, you will be charged for the meal on ParentPay. As every year almost all children eat the Christmas dinner, and the kitchen need to know well in advance how much food to order, we find this system works well so thank you for your cooperation.

Ripon Concerts is delighted to share an exciting opportunity for your students and families. On Sunday 14 December at 3pm, the internationally acclaimed jazz pianist David Gordon, together with his trio, will be performing at Holy Trinity Church, Ripon.

Our concert will begin with performances by two talented young musicians from Thirsk School and Ripon Grammar School, showcasing exceptional local talent and setting the stage for an inspiring afternoon of music.

Described by The Independent on Sunday as “a richly gifted player with a sparkling style and boundless imagination,” David Gordon is known for his engaging performances, inventive improvisation, and approachable style that resonates with young musicians and listeners alike. The concert will feature an uplifting mix of jazz favourites—plus a few festive surprises!

To support music education locally, we are pleased to offer free tickets for students and families from your school. Thanks to the generosity of a local sponsor, two FREE tickets are offered for all adults accompanying an under 18, making this an affordable festive treat for local families.

We hope this will be an inspiring musical experience for your students, whether they are budding performers or simply enjoy exploring new musical styles.

Free tickets should be booked via our website www.riponconcerts.co.uk.
