📣Hello Families!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

We invite you to our 4th-grade African American Wax Museum on the 25th at 10:00, where we will spotlight famous African Americans.

Additionally, our Black History Program will take place on Friday at 9:00 AM. This year’s theme is "Stepping Deeper into Our History." During the program, our students will showcase the "Divine Nine," which refers to the fraternities and sororities associated with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). While we recognize that college may not be the right path for everyone, it’s important for students to be aware of the opportunities available to them.

Please arrive before 9:00 AM so you don't miss any of the program.

If you would like to register a 3K or 4K student for next year, please contact the front office.

Have a fabulous week!

Mrs. Jordan

From Our Art Teacher, Mr. Jaron Sanders

For our winter projects, I chose to focus on value and patterns for all grade levels. We took a few weeks to prepare for the final project by learning about value/shading. When used properly, shading/value can make art look 3D.

First, we began by doing a value worksheet where students discovered and practiced value. We also did mini lesson on Primary and Secondary colors on a color wheel. From there we sketched the Penguins/Snowmen with pencil and added value. I find that sketching helps them gain more confidence before going to the final paper.

Finally, students used oil pastels to create their artwork. The oil pastels blend easily to create value. Students found the media messy, sticky, yet fun. Students got to add their own style/color to the hat, scarfs, etc. This project took some time, but I was really proud of the finished product. I love how they all look unique and have their own personalities.
