Transportation Survey for Families
Please fill out by March 20, 2026
Dear Coupeville Families,
I'm reaching out personally because we're facing an important decision that will affect every family in our district, and I truly need your help.
Our current bus schedule has a gap that's creating real challenges. Our buses simply don't have enough time to complete middle/high school routes and get back for elementary pickups. This is causing delays, stress for our drivers, and unreliable arrival times that affect our students' learning day.
We can't continue this way next year—but before we make any changes, I want to hear from you.
We've carefully designed three possible solutions, and honestly, each one comes with trade-offs. What works well for one family might create challenges for another. That's exactly why your individual response is so important. I need to understand how each option would specifically impact YOUR family—your morning routine, your childcare arrangements, your work schedule, and any concerns you have.
This survey isn't just a formality. Your responses will directly inform which option we choose and what support we put in place to help families through the transition. If we don't hear from you, we're making this decision without knowing your family's needs.
Please take 5 minutes to complete the survey:
Survey Deadline: March 20, 2026
I especially encourage you to respond if:
• You have children at different school levels
• You rely on before or after school care
• Schedule changes would create real hardship for your family
• You have strong feelings about any of the options
Be honest in your feedback. If an option would be difficult for your family, I need to know that. Your concerns help us plan better support and make the best possible decision for our Coupeville community.
Paper surveys are available at our district office if that's easier for you.
Thank you for being partners with us in this decision. Our schools are strongest when we work together, and I'm grateful for your time and input.
With appreciation,
Shannon Leatherwood
