Wingate Elementary August 2025

Wingate Families-

Welcome to the 25-26 school year! We have been working hard all summer to get the building ready for students. A big thank you to our custodial team for all their hard work this summer! I will be in the main hallway on Open House Night with our new Assistant Principal Mr. Ambuehl. Please find us and say hello. Looking forward to a new school year!

Principal

New Student Tours and Presentations-

These events are for all new PreK students to Wingate, all kindergarten students and all new students in grades 1st-5th. Please look carefully to find your correct grade level. Enter at door 15. Hope to see you there!

Open House-

Please plan to join us for Open House this year to meet your teacher and drop off school supplies.

Transportation Arrangements for Students-

As we prepare for the upcoming school year at Wingate Elementary, it’s essential that we have accurate transportation and dismissal information for each student to ensure a safe and smooth end-of-day process. Please take a few moments to fill out the form linked below if you have not already. As of this time, we have over 80 students that do not have this form filled out. If you have multiple students attending Wingate Elementary, you must fill out a transportation form for each student.

PTO-

Wingate is very lucky to have a very active PTO. Please consider joining the Wingate Elementary PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). Membership is just $5 per person, and all membership dues go directly back to the school. PTO funds events throughout the year that enhance the educational experience of all students at Wingate. No volunteering is necessary, but members will receive emails with first dibs of volunteer opportunities at the school, as well as reminders for school events. We meet every other month in the evenings at Wingate. Please go to our FutureFund page to register your membership today! This year you will have access to the membership directory so you can get contact information for your child’s friends if their parents also join PTO. Participation in the directory is optional. We’re looking forward to working with you this school year!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures at Wingate- Arrival and Dismissal Procedures at Wingate-

With over 600 students entering and exiting our building each day, we please ask for your cooperation when dropping off and picking up your child(ren) to ensure the safety of all students.

Arrival Procedures-

* K-5 students may arrive to school between 8:15am and 8:35am. Any student arriving after 8:35am will need to be signed in as tardy by a parent or guardian. In the morning doors, 1, 2, 15 and 7 will be opened for students to enter.

*For bikers and walkers coming from the Wingate Manor neighborhood-a sidewalk is located for your families that goes around the back parking lot, near pod A and allows you to enter in the back of the building through door 7. We have bike racks here as well.

*For bikers and walkers coming from the Greenmount Manor neighborhood-please continue to cross at the crosswalk in the parking lot and park your bikes near door 15 in the front of the building.

* Car riders-parents are welcome to park in a parking spot and exit their car with their child. We will have 3 crosswalks all manned by Wingate Staff. Please wait for a crossing guard to cross you so you aren't walking out into traffic. You can walk your child to the exit door closest to their classroom and say good-bye. Please use a crosswalk on your way back to your car.

*Car riders-if your child is independent and can exit the car on their own, please pull to the right side of the front drive and let them exit on the right side of your car, away from traffic. Please stay in your car so as not to tie up traffic.

* No adult supervision is available for students prior to 8:15. If a child arrives prior to 8:15am unattended, we do bring them into Extended Time and call home.

* Absolutely no cell phones are allowed in the school parking lot. Please help us to keep our students safe at all times!
