A Few Words From the Principal
We were so excited this week to have a full week of school! It's great to get ourselves and our students back into a routine and learning as we head strong into the second semester. We know the cold weather and extra long break has made it hard to get moving in the mornings, but we will be enforcing morning tardies and encourage everyone to plan a few extra minutes to ensure students are on time and in class when the bell rings at 7:55. We hope everyone enjoys the 3-day weekend - stay warm! 🥶

News & Information
Student Arrival Time & Inclement Weather
A reminder that per the student handbook, students should not arrive at school prior to 7:35 when the back doors are unlocked and teachers are in the building to supervise. Students will be allowed inside earlier when the wind chill is 25 degrees or below, raining, snowing, etc. Thank you for making sure your students are dressed appropriately for the weather!
From Student Council
Students, start saving your dollars! During lunch on Thursday, January 30, you may purchase duct tape for $1 a foot and stick it to Mr. Santaularia, kitchen manager and chef extraordinaire. The goal is to tape him head to toe to a pole in the cafeteria and leave him stuck. You can participate by bringing in your dollars. There is no limit to how many feet of tape you can buy, and all money collected goes to the American Red Cross for California wildfire relief. Let's have some fun while raising funds for an important cause!
DHS Future Wildcat Night: Academic and Activity Expo
Join us on Wednesday, February 5th, for an exciting evening to explore all that DHS has to offer! The event kicks off with an information session for current 8th-grade students and their parents from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM in the DHS PAC. Following this session, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, students and parents in grades 8–11 are invited to meet teachers and student leaders to learn about academic programs, course pathways, and extracurricular activities. This event is a great opportunity to gather the information you need to make informed decisions about course selection and activity involvement for the upcoming school year.

Good Things at MTMS
Congratulations 🎉 to 7th grader Tejas S., our new school spelling bee 🐝 champion! Tejas correctly spelled words like gargoyles, melancholy, aquamarine, and famine to claim the title in the 16th round. He will represent MTMS at the Johnson County Bee on February 8.

Important Dates:
Winter Social - January 24th
The winter social is next Friday, January 24th. We are excited to finally get to party! 6th graders will party from 3:05-4:30pm, while the 7th & 8th graders will socialize from 5:30-7:00pm. No RSVP necessary and admission is free. Refreshments will be provided. The theme is Glow Party, so students are encouraged to wear white or neon colors to show up in the DJ's lighting. There will be a DJ in the commons and the gym will be open for games.
Parents, we need chaperones! Volunteers will help with set up, snack distribution, student supervision, and clean up at the end. If your student cringes at the thought of your presence at the party, consider chaperoning the social they won’t be at! We greatly appreciate your gift of time. We also need help with a few refreshments. If you are willing to help, use the link to sign up.
