Principal Duckworth's Notes

Last week, approximately 30 students were seen by the Family Health Center's Mobile Dentist. Thank you for completing the paperwork for your child to b seen.

This week, Wednesday, January 14, the Family Health Center's Medical Mobile Unit will be at Northglade. If you completed that paperwork, please make sure students are at school on Wednesday so they can be seen.

This Wednesday, January 14, Northglade's Girls Scout troop will be having a Troop Meeting after school. Scouts will meet in the library and from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. Please make sure you have arrangements for students to be picked up after the meeting.

This year, we have had a number of issues on bus #64. Several students are NOT following the bus safety rules. Many students are not staying seated while the bus is moving, there have been reports of students using inappropriate language, reports of students sticking their middle fingers up at others, eating, drinking, hitting and calling names are just a few of the reports. Therefore, I am asking you to please speak to your child(ren) about bus safety and how students should behave on the bus.

The bus driver is the first point of contact regarding bus issues. However, it is always, best practice to call the school and inform the staff as well. That way, all parties are informed about all situations.

Let's work together to make this bus and the students its carrying, a safer ride, to and from school.

I appreciate your cooperation in advance.

In Michigan, we know our weather can change at the drop of a hat. Sometimes when students come too school, it is warm but can then turns cold. I've seen students come to school without coats this week. Please make sure you are sending students with coats, boots, and snow pants daily.

It is also very important that students are bringing a pair of shoes to change into when they come back inside from recess. This way, we can help keep our classroom carpets clean.

Students are more than welcome to wear slippers as well.
