Dear Pilot Families,

We are looking forward to welcoming back our Pilots on Wednesday, August 12th! We are excited for a new school year!

Wednesday, 8/12 will be a modified day with dismissal at 12:55 PM for all students. Our Bell Schedule is included later in this newsletter.

As a reminder, student classroom assignments will be posted Monday, August 10 at 4:30 PM in Infinite Campus Parent Portals. In order to view class assignments, be sure you have completed the Annual Family Update in Infinite Campus. Parents can log into Infinite Campus after 4:30 PM to view their child's class assignment. Please remember that we will not be making any class changes and are unable to take any requests.

Important Upcoming Dates

Monday, 8/10 at 4:30 PM

*Infinite Campus Parent Portal, teacher assignments will be posted (this is the only place to correctly view your child's classroom assignment). It is important that all returning families complete the Annual Family Update in order to be placed in a classroom.

If your student is able to view a schedule or teacher assignment through a third-party educational app prior to the official release date, please be aware that this information is not finalized and is subject to change until it is officially published in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Please note: We will not be accepting requests for teacher/classroom changes.

Wednesday, 8/12

*1st Day of School begins at 8:50 AM (modified dismissal at 12:55 PM for all students) . Families may walk students to their class today only. A school map will be sent in the next Flight Plan closer to the first day of school.

*9:15 TK/K Orientation for Families in MPR

Thursday, 8/13

*Only students may enter the school entrance gates when they open at 8:35 AM. Students will go straight to class upon entering the gates. Classes begin at 8:50 AM.

*BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT SCHEDULE:

5:00 PTA General Association Meeting
6:00 - 7:00 Classroom Visits. There will be two sessions at 6:00 and 6:30. Teachers will present the same information at both to assist families with multiple students.

Friday, 8/14

Our first Friday Flag Salute on the blacktop. All visitors must sign in at the front office and wear a visitor sticker at all times.

26/27 Bell Schedule

For safety reasons, schools do not publish their specific bell schedules on their websites. We are providing images of our regular day and modified schedules below, along with a link to a printable bell schedule.

Our first bell, the "warning bell", rings at 8:45 AM. Students are expected to be in class at 8:50 AM. Students who arrive after 8:50 AM will need to report to the office to get a tardy slip.

First Day of School Information

All TK/Kindergarten students enter at the gate directly in front of the Kindergarten building. Please ensure TK/Kinder students are escorted safely to their gates in the morning.

All 1st-5th grade students enter the school through one gate located directly near the first grade wing. See image below for details.

Families are welcome to walk their children directly to their classrooms on the first day of school. We will have friendly staff to help point you in the right direction. Teachers will review morning expectations with students on the first day of school so that we can return to a closed/secured campus on Thursday, 8/13. On Thursday, 8/13, only students will be able to enter the campus gates and are instructed to go straight to their classroom.

For TK/Kindergarten families, please join us in the MPR after you drop off your student on Wednesday, August 12 for our special TK/Kindergarten Parent Orientation, which begins at 9:15 AM.

Parking

Where do we park?

Parents are asked to park on the surrounding streets.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE FRONT LOT.

The front lot is for staff, busses, families with a parking pass for students with special needs, families with handicap parking, and visits to the office for business of no more than 10 minutes.

Please do not park in the drop-off/pick-up loop and leave your car.

If you need to leave your car or assist your student, please park on the surrounding streets.

School Entrance Locations

Where does my child enter the school?

TK/Kindergarten students enter at the gate at the front of the school. 1st-5th grade students enter the school through either 1st - 5th gates. See image above for details.

On Wednesdays, the ENTIRE school is dismissed at 12:55 PM

TK/K Parents: Please DO NOT park/leave your car at the front loop at any time.

Annual Family Update- REQUIRED

Any student who does not have a completed Annual Update:

may not be enrolled in a class for the 26/27school year
may not receive a schedule

It is imperative that all families complete the Annual Family Update as soon as possible to prevent any delay in your child's enrollment for next school year.

Please note, this process is for RETURNING STUDENTS ONLY. If you have a child in your family who will be new to TVUSD for the 25/26 school year, you must complete the New Student Enrollment process. Click HERE for New Student Enrollment instructions.

Breakfast and Lunch Information for TK-5th Grade Students

ALL students in California schools are offered free breakfast, which is served during recess, and free lunch every day. Both meals are completely optional, and families continue to be welcome sending their children with a recess snack and lunch provided from home.

In order to obtain breakfast or lunch each day, students visit the cafeteria in the MPR. All students must enter a unique pin code that tracks food service usage, and students are strongly encouraged to memorize their pin code to ensure the lines move quickly when visiting the cafeteria.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR TK/KINDER FAMILIES: Families may want to consider sending a snack and lunch packed from home at the beginning of the year for TK and Kindergarten students so they aren't overwhelmed with the process of visiting the cafeteria.
