“Foster Growth by Challenging Critical Thinkers to Take Risks,
Honor Differences & Care for Others”
CELEBRATING VETERANS & ACTIVE SERVICE MEN & WOMEN
We had the honor of celebrating Gold Rush Veterans and active military family members during an all school assembly Friday. Students sang songs of appreciation and shared letters of recognition. Gold Rush Student Council leaders also read a poem and the Words of Wisdom to mark the importance of the upcoming holiday. Students enjoyed seeing participants’ military dress and hearing the different branches of service represented.
We thank all those that have served our country. We appreciate the sacrifices made on our behalf.
HANDS ON SCIENCE IN THE S.T.E.M. LAB
Students are bringing science to life in the S.T.E.M. lab. Each grade level engaged in experiments that aligned to state standards. Kindergarten students, for example, created shadow puppets and observed the different effects of light on a surface. First graders created harmonicas to study sound. Students investigated how the different vibrations made music. Second graders were creating lemon volcanoes in order to observe how properties change. Intermediate students will go on next week to create electrical circuits in order to study how energy flows.
Students in all grades have enjoyed the hands on, engaging explorations. Each project has given context to grade level concepts. We thank S.T.E.M. teacher, Mr. Thomas, for making these enriching experiences possible!
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING GOLD RUSH
We thank the Gold Rush community for supporting our school and staff by passing ballot measure 5A! We all know the importance of strong educators and support staff. Staff are able to receive a more competitive wage as a result. This will allow us to retain staff and recruit high quality candidates. This measure will also fund additional security measures. We appreciate you for making this possible!
TOOLS FOR SUPPORTING READING AT HOME
Research shows that time spent reading at home has a direct impact on students' academic achievement. Even five minutes a day can increase students' vocabulary significantly. Kindergarten students dressed as up to celebrate their reading super powers. Students are practicing their many "powers," including pointing power and sound power, as they read each day.
Below are two parent resources that provide tips for working with your child at home. Many of the strategies recommended are done in the classroom. We appreciate your partnership as we increase students' stamina and love of reading.
OPEN ENROLLMENT & K REGISTRATION FOR 2024-2025
First round of Open Enrollment is open until December 1. Gold Rush is accepting a limited number of students at certain grade levels. Gold Rush will host information sessions and tours for prospective parents on Thursday, November 16, at 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for Gold Rush to celebrate the incredible work that occurs throughout our building each day. Please remember if you have a fifth grader who is currently open enrolled, and you live outside of the Legend feeder boundaries, you have to open enroll for sixth grade at Cimarron Middle School.
If you are a current GRE family, please assist us in planning for the 2024-2025 school year by indicating your child(ren)'s intent to return to GRE using this form. Please complete the Intent to Return survey by Wednesday, November 30th. This will help ensure your child's classroom placement for the upcoming school year.
