East Weekly
February 28, 2025
Good Afternoon,
We’re feeling lucky at East to finally enjoy some warmer weather, giving students the chance to get outside for a short recess! It has helped students burn some energy throughout the day.
A few quick reminders for next week:
- Morning Drop-Off: If your child is waiting in the car each morning, please park in the side lot. Keeping the drop-off line moving is important for the Clotts Rd. traffic and buses.
- Group Chats: We’ve noticed an increase in school drama stemming from large group messages (15+ students). Please take a moment to check in with your child about their digital interactions and encourage positive, respectful communication.
Thank you for your support and partnership — have a wonderful weekend!
Take Care,
Megan Kirsten

ATTENTION PARENTS!!
Spread the Word
Hello parents!
There has been a lot happening behind the scenes in anticipation of our district's annual Spread the Word Day, which will be March 26th. For those of you new to the district or in need of a refresher, Spread the Word is a national campaign that started to decrease the use of the r-word and has grown to a global engagement campaign committed to creating socially inclusive places to learn, work, and live. This campaign has become very important to the Gahanna community and we love celebrating it each year!
This year we will again be selling shirts (and a tote bag!). This is our biggest fundraiser and very important to our special eduction program, so feel free to send the link out to anyone! We also hope you will consider purchasing a shirt for your student to wear on the big day.
The link will only be live for ONE week. so please order soon. Please take note of the following things when ordering and when sending the link to others:
You will need to choose MSE under 'Select School'
You will need to type your student name under 'Student Name'
You will need to type their house teacher under 'Student Homeroom Number'
Once orders have been filled and delivered to East, we will ensure your order is sent home with your student.

Washington DC Update:
Hello Travelers and Families!
Happy New Year to you all! We are officially in 2025 and are less that 5 months away from the D.C. trip! I wanted to send out a couple of reminders and an update about the trip so that you know what to expect over the next few months.
Reminders
Payment dates were scheduled for January 10th, February 7th, March 7th, and April 4th. These dates were set to help families spread out the payments, but no one's trip will be cancelled, nor will fees be added for late payments. However, they do ask that the balances be paid by the last payment date of April 4th. If you have any questions about your account or payments, please reach out to Prodigy Student Travel at 614-436-8747.
When students were registered, you were sent forms to be completed through Infinite Campus (IC). The Behavior Contract was sent to students and parents/guardians to be signed. The other forms were only sent to parents/guardians. Please make sure to complete these forms. Students cannot participate in the trip if these forms are not completed . Also, if you marked "no" on the medication form for any medication that your child needs to take with them on the trip, make sure to complete the appropriate additional medical forms linked in the "additional medical forms" document sent to you through IC.
Updates
In March students will go through the process of selecting their roommates for the trip. We do our best to honor these requests and can normally do so unless we have cancellations or other issues that arise.
In April we will have another virtual meeting to discuss the final itineraries for the trip, what to pack and what not to pack, behavior expectations while traveling, and the details about the morning we leave (where and when to meet, checking in, etc.) and our return.
All medications, prescription and non-prescription, must be turned in to your school nurse in their original containers no later than two weeks before we leave for the trip.
