i-Ready Assessment for 9th and 10th Grade Students (August 17 - August 28)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
All 9th and 10th grade students will be participating in the i-Ready Assessment during the weeks of August 17th through August 28th. The assessment will be administered directly within their regular English and Math classes.
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an adaptive online assessment that helps teachers understand your student's current skill levels, strengths, and areas for growth in both Reading and Mathematics. It is not a high-stakes test or a graded exam; rather, it provides valuable data that allows our educators to personalize instruction and provide targeted support to help your student succeed throughout the year.
How You Can Help Your Student Prepare:
Rest: Ensure your student gets a good night’s sleep before school days.
Nutrition: Encourage them to eat a healthy breakfast.
Equipment: Remind your student to bring their charged school-issued device (and headphones, if applicable) to class each day.
Encouragement: Remind them to do their best so that teachers receive an accurate picture of how to support them!
If you have any questions regarding the assessment, please feel free to reach out to your student's math or english teacher or you can contact AP, Krysta Ortiz at ortizkn@nv.ccsd.net

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
Attention Silverado Sophomore Families!
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, all Silverado High School sophomores will be participating in the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
What is the ASVAB?
The ASVAB is a career exploration and aptitude assessment that helps students discover their strengths and interests. While it is commonly associated with military careers, students do not have to be interested in joining the military to benefit from taking the ASVAB. Many schools use the ASVAB as a valuable career-planning tool to help students learn more about careers that match their skills and abilities.
Understanding ASVAB Scores
Students receive an AFQT score ranging from 1–99. Students who earn a score of 50 or higher on the ASVAB may qualify toward earning the Career Ready distinction on their diploma upon graduation. Please note: A qualifying ASVAB score is only one of several requirements needed to earn the Career Ready distinction. Students should meet with their school counselor to learn about all of the requirements and determine their eligibility.
Juniors and Seniors
Students in 11th or 12th grade who would like to retake the ASVAB must register in advance using the Google Form below:
ASVAB Registration Form:

Please note that STUDENTS who are interested must fill out this form using their CCSD Gmail that has been assigned to them. This is the only way to assess this form
We encourage families to discuss this opportunity with their students. The ASVAB is an excellent resource for career planning and can provide valuable information to help students make informed decisions about their future after high school.

Attendance
Importance of Attendance
Did you know that missing just a few days of school each month puts a student at a much higher risk of falling behind and dropping out? Every class day counts toward your child's success.
How You Can Help:
Send students to school every day unless they are running a fever or have a contagious illness.
Submit absence notes promptly: Parents/guardians must submit absence documentation online or in person for any missed days.
Please Note: Students who accumulate more than 10 unapproved absences in a single course will be denied course credit and issued a failing grade.
Thank you for partnering with us to prioritize learning and attendance!
