Table Tennis Champion

Congratulations to our talented ping pong player Y4.1 Peterson HUI, who won third place in the 2025 Hong Kong Open Youth Table Tennis Championships(Category U9) last week.

There were a total of 177 contestants in this group, and the competition was held over two days. The process of qualification for the next level is also very difficult. The most challenging part of the games was the quarterfinals against the third-seeded player. Both players performed exceptionally well. After winning three out of five games, the match was tied at 2-2. However, Peterson was able to control the pressure and give his best during the deciding game, holding a good score of 3-2 to move into the next round. In the semi-finals, as Peterson had expended a lot of energy during the previous games he finally lost in the next round against the top-seeded player with a score of 3-2. Peterson has concluded from the above games: “I gained valuable experience from the matches and will keep striving to improve. I hope to achieve a better result in the next competition! Thank you!”

KIS Library and Campus Visit (4 & 5 Year Old Classes)

As part of their How We Express Ourselves unit, our 4 and 5 Year Old students had an exciting visit to the KIS library and campus! During their library time, Ms. Phebe, the KIS librarian, led a special lesson where the children explored the different kinds of books found in the library and learned about the parts of a story. They also enjoyed listening to the delightful tale "Stuck" and participated in a fun activity where they sequenced the events of the story. Following their library adventure, the students toured the campus, getting a glimpse of the Year 1 classrooms, play areas, art room, and music room. It was a wonderful day filled with discovery, creativity, and a deeper understanding of how we express ourselves through stories and exploration!

Author Visit (4 & 5 Year Old Classes)

Our 4 and 5 Year Old classes had the special opportunity to meet author Abigail Carr, who visited to share her wonderful book Scaredy Finds His Courage. The children were captivated by the story and thrilled to meet a real author in person! This experience connected beautifully to their How We Express Ourselves unit, where they are exploring how stories express ideas, feelings, and culture. Hearing the story directly from the author gave the students a deeper appreciation for storytelling and how it can convey important messages and emotions. It was an inspiring and memorable experience for our young learners!

Angel Wong (Ladybugs Class Chinese Teacher)

Hello everyone! I'm Angel Wong, the Chinese teacher of the Ladybugs Class for 2 Year Olds at Kingston. Fulfilling my childhood dream of becoming an educator, I've devoted over two decades to early childhood education, with 18 wonderful years in our Kingston family. My journey began in traditional preschools where I mastered diverse teaching methodologies, then expanded through IB-PYP (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme) training that cultivated global educational perspectives. From a novice teacher to a confident mentor, this path represents not just professional growth but a lifelong commitment to educational values. What truly fulfills me is nurturing young minds through joyful exploration. I've witnessed countless timid smiles blossom into confident little learners, like tender seedlings growing strong under careful tending.

Beyond teaching, I orchestrate delicious learning through **"Flavorful Education"** - our classroom becomes a mini culinary lab where tiny hands shape tangyuan (sweet dumplings), fold dumplings, and bake cookies. This edible play develops fine motor skills while tasting cultural heritage. When not teaching, I channel my inner food anthropologist: exploring hidden eateries, recreating recipes from steaming soups to delicate pastries, always seeking fresh inspiration. I believe both education and cooking require **patient alchemy** - knowing when to guide precisely, like adjusting heat, and when to step back, allowing natural growth through experimentation.

In the future, I will continue this journey full of childlike fun and fragrance with gentle but firm steps. Because education is the art of life influencing life, and food is the most beautiful seasoning of life.

3 Year Old Class

Our 3 Year Old Class students are fully immersed in their How We Express Ourselves unit, engaging in a variety of artistic explorations that spark creativity and curiosity. The children have been joyfully experimenting with colour mixing, discovering how primary colours combine to create new shades, and learning about famous artists like Mondrian, Arcimboldo, and Michelangelo. Inspired by these artists, the students have explored self-expression through self-portraits and even tried painting on ice—a unique and exciting sensory experience! Throughout their journey, they have demonstrated attributes of the learner profile, such as being inquirers as they ask questions and explore new techniques, and risk-takers as they try creative and unfamiliar approaches to art. It’s been a wonderful opportunity for them to express themselves and deepen their appreciation for art and creativity!
