Manzanar Visit: 2.21.26
On Saturday, February 21, 2026, 100 Mayfair students had an unforgettable and deeply meaningful experience visiting Manzanar National Historic Site, where they learned firsthand about the history and resilience of Japanese Americans during World War II. Walking the grounds, exploring the exhibits, and listening to powerful stories allowed students to connect classroom learning to real life, fostering empathy, reflection, and a greater understanding of civil rights and social justice. This trip was a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering our history so we can build a more just future. We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated chaperones for their time, care, and supervision, which helped make this impactful experience safe, smooth, and truly memorable for our students.
CIMI Trip: 2.27.26 - 3.1.26
Fifteen middle school students from Mayfair Middle/High School had an unforgettable experience during their 3-day trip to the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) from February 27 to March 1, 2026. The adventure began with an exciting ferry ride to and from the island, setting the tone for a hands-on learning experience surrounded by the ocean. During their stay, students participated in engaging lab experiences, including dissecting squid, using microscopes to identify plankton life, and learning about marine ecosystems up close.
Students also learned how to snorkel and had the opportunity to touch and observe various marine life, making science come alive in a memorable way. The trip was filled with lots of fun, teamwork, and discovery as students built friendships, challenged themselves, and created lasting memories. Overall, the CIMI experience was a meaningful blend of education and adventure that students will remember for years to come.

One of the highlights of the event was witnessing the energetic and colorful Dragon Dance, which brought excitement and school spirit to campus as we welcomed the Happy Year of the Horse. No Recording. No Instigating. Keep Mayfair Safe.
Recording or encouraging fights creates safety risks and leads to consequences under Ed Code §48900(k). Make positive choices—walk away, report, and protect your school community.
Reminders
Listed below are just a few important reminders (PLEASE READ):
- Mayfair Middle/High School does not permit any drop-offs or deliveries of food or other items. Please ensure that your student is prepared for the day when coming to school in the morning with their lunch, supplies, money, etc.
- Dress Code. For the 2025-2026 school year, we are trying to prepare our students for college and career ready with a dress code. Students will not be allowed to wear any inappropriate clothing which includes the following: No sheer, low cut, revealing blouses, bare midriff, or braless outfits, bathing suits, beach attire, tight or revealing, or strapless garments. Please be sure that your student follows the dress code and wears appropriate clothing and accessories. Also, students may not bring blankets to campus. Click here to access Mayfair's Dress Code Policy.
- No returning back to campus. If a student has an early release (7th or 8th period), once the student leaves campus, they may not return to campus during school hours. Parents - please ensure that your students are going home early if they have the early release. Note: Students who have a "home" period, must leave campus by the end of lunch, and are not allowed to remain unsupervised. Please review your students schedule so that you are aware when they will be leaving campus early (prior to 3:35).
School Policies
Bikes/skateboards/ scooters
Students will not be allowed to have bikes, scooters or skateboards on campus. There are designated lock areas on the north and south ends of campus for students to securely store them during the school day. Riding and even walking them through campus presents a safety concern. Students are expected to pick up their belongings at the designated areas, and exit campus. Students are also required to walk their Bike, scooter or skateboard until they are completely off campus, which includes walkways and parking lots. Our goal is to insure safety for all students, we appreciate your support in upholding these expectations at home.
For the safety of all students and staff, riding bikes, scooters, or skateboards on campus is not permitted. Once students reach the school curb, they must walk their bikes and skateboards at all times. Motorbikes are not allowed on campus. All bikes, scooters, and skateboards must be properly locked to a designated bike rack only and should not be attached to gates or left in front of the school. Items left or locked outside of campus have been stolen in the past, and the school is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
Safety is a shared responsibility, both on and around campus. Students are expected to be cautious when crossing streets, follow all traffic and crossing rules, and use designated crosswalks. We have had students hit by cars this year, which underscores how important it is to stay alert and make safe choices when arriving to and leaving school. Taking these precautions helps protect not only individual students, but our entire school community.
Tardy Policy
Starting October 13, 2025, Mayfair will enforce a new tardy policy: any student who is tardy to three or more periods in a single week will be assigned a lunch detention the following week. Students must complete their detention to be removed from the no-go Minga list and regain the ability to attend special school events, which are considered privileges. Failure to serve a lunch detention will result in additional consequences.
Wellness Center
Mayfair Middle/High School’s Wellness Center is available for students who need a short break to recharge during the day. Students must first check into class at the start of the period and then have a pass or Minga pass from a teacher or counselor to visit. Wellness breaks are limited to 10–15 minutes, and cell phones must be put away while in the center. Please remember that all health-related issues should be directed to the Health Office. Students are allowed only one pass per day unless otherwise determined.

Minga
Mayfair Middle/High School students will utilize the app called Minga as a digital ID card. The app enables staff to create hall passes, reward students for doing well and helping others, and the digital ID card will help students have an easier time entering or leaving campus. The digital ID has a "live" interface, with a running digital clock and a moving background, thus preventing students from using a screenshot [Screenshots of ID are not permitted]. Students will utilize their school email (via Google) to log in. The app is safe to use, uses very little data, and doesn't require access to any of the information stored on your phone. If your child does not have a smartphone, don't worry - they will receive a printed ID card as well. Click here to access a quick document that shows you how to log into your school's Minga account.
