GT Academy Happenings π
Spring was an exciting season at the Gifted and Talented Academy at Quail Valley Middle School. On March 9th, GTA7 students hosted over 300 fifth graders at the Be the Change Expo, where they shared research on real-world issues through engaging, interactive exhibitsβan inspiring experience for all.
GTA7 students also traveled to San Antonio for their βTexas Journeysβ trip, visiting the San Jose Mission, El Mercado, the Alamo, and the Meadows Center, with plenty of hands-on learning along the way (and a few Buc-eeβs stops).
On March 24th, GTA6 students showcased over 185 βImagine the Changeβ projects, reflecting on their learning and inspiring attendees with their ideas for making a difference.
Meanwhile, over 300 applications were reviewed for next yearβs incoming 6th grade class, with 200 students selected and 47 waitlisted.
Looking ahead, GTA8 students are preparing for the first annual Manifest the Change Showcase. Additionally, 18 students will be recognized by Baylor TIP, and a team of GTA7 and GTA8 students will compete in the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C. Exciting times at the GTA!
GT Academy Junior MD Club π
Methodist Research Institute Visit
GTA Students in the Junior MD Club got to experience an authentic look into the world of medical research and healthcare careers by visiting the Houston Methodist Research Institute in the Texas Medical Center. In addition to a guided tour and interaction with medical students and research trainees, students also had the opportunity to see and learn about emerging technology and tools currently shaping the future of medicine.
