Kia Ora Whānau

As we come to the end of our fourth week of Learning @Home it is heartening to see, read and hear how our students, teachers and whānau are managing. This is reflected in the interesting and creative mahi that has gone on.

Our students and teachers have been demonstrating and creating using a range of skills as can be seen below. From making an animal bridge, baking cookie squisheys, creating nature art, making a robot to creating a magazine advertisement.

We certainly have talented students and teachers at NPS!

Alert Level 3

Where possible students should be at home during Alert Level 3. When we move to Alert Level 3 if both parents are working away from the home and are essential workers then there may be some supervision of Learning@Home activities at our school or other local schools.

If you require this service please email principal@newmarket.school.nz before next Tuesday 14 September. Please email the principal both parents specific work details and contacts, and times students need supervision. Depending on numbers, the venue may not be Newmarket School but other local schools. Please note all students must be pre-enrolled and approved for this service by the principal. We will provide venue details and arrival time information for individual students directly.

Kia kaha te reo Māori Kia kaha te reo Māori

‘Kia kaha’ is well understood in New Zealand English with its meaning of ‘be strong’. We often talk about languages as if they are people – talking about language health, strength and revitalisation. So when we say ‘Kia kaha te reo Māori’ we’re saying - ‘Let’s make the Māori language strong'.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or other matters in regard to Alert Level 4. If you have not had your vaccinations yet I certainly encourage you to do so, and isn't it great that 12-15 year olds can now be vaccinated too. Go well
