Windsor's Multicultural Week March 9th - 13th

Multicultural Week

Windsor students will be participating in multicultural week March 9-13th. Our wildcats will learn about different cultures and participate in different activities during their specials classes; music, art, PE, and LMC. On Monday March 9th, we will have an all-school assembly and kick-off performance by Brazilian Capoeira. Thank you to the Windsor PTA for sponsoring this assembly!

Windsor's World

This year Windsor's World will be a daytime student only event that will take place during the school on Friday, March 13th. Students who wish to participate can work on their display board at home or during our teacher sponsored lunches. For families who are not able to purchase a display board, we have a limited number of board available in the front office. On the day of the event, students will stand by their board and share information about their families culture while grade levels visit.

Please see the link below for more information as well as a link to sign your child up for the daytime student only event:

Attention 2nd and 3rd Graders:

The Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) is a math problem solving contest for elementary students. The goal of the competition is to encourage young students' interest in math, to develop their problem solving skills, and to inspire them to excel in math. During the contest, students are given 45 minutes to solve 20 problems. Problems are designed to challenge students and to enrich their problem solving experiences. This spring, interested students in grades 2-3 will be able to participate in the contest in person on April 8. Please note that we can only accept 30 second grade students and 30 third grade students for the contest. For more information, and to sign your child up for the contest, please visit either the second grade link (https://bit.ly/2ndGradeNoeticMath) or the third grade link (https://bit.ly/3rdGradeNoeticMath). Registration will close on March 13, or when the grade level has reached capacity. If you have any questions, please contact Vicky Stella (vstella@sd25.org).

Stella's Station is back!

This is a fun school to home connection that Mrs. Stella provides as an optional activity for families to do at home. Feel free to complete and have fun!

Did you know that February 26 was Read a Fairy Tale Day in the United States? Instead of just reading fairy tales, why not do some fairy tale-related math? Clicking on the link below will bring you to a page of leveled math puzzles. Puzzle A is the easiest, and C is the most challenging. At the bottom of each puzzle is a link to a Google Form where your child can submit his / her answer to see if it is correct. Your family can complete one problem or all three! You can access the page of puzzles by clicking on this link: FAIRY TALE MATH

Pack the Piggies

Are you ready to Pack the Piggy, Windsor School? The Arlington Heights Council of PTA’s (AHC-PTA) funds $15k annually in scholarships for former D25 graduating seniors in D214. This year, the AHC-PTA will be running it’s 5th “Pack the Piggies” fundraiser across the district to raise money for these scholarships.

The contest begins March 2nd and goes through March 6th, which gives us 5 days to pack our piggy to reach our goal! Each district school’s goal is to raise $1 per student. Our school's goal is $519.00. If we reach our school goal, our school’s prize will be a superhero spirit day and an all school dance party. We will celebrate our superhero Wildcats for meeting our goal!

To help reach our goal, students can bring in coins, cash, or checks (made out to the AHC-PTA) and pack our piggy! Let’s have some fun for a great cause starting March 2nd!

Notes from the Nurse

Winter is the time of year when we notice cases of lice in our school community. While lice are a common occurrence and not a health hazard, it’s important to remain vigilant.

Please take a moment to read this INFORMATIONAL LETTER on HEAD LICE which includes helpful information about identifying and preventing the spread of lice.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Student safety remains a top priority in District 25. All schools are safe and welcoming for every student and family, with district procedures in place to support students’ safety and learning in the event of any ICE-related incident. The district will continue to share information with families to reinforce our commitment to keeping students safe.

Windsor Drive Drop and Go

Just a reminder, please pull all of the way up on Windsor Drive to our furtherest staff member no matter which door your child enters the building through. We have many staff members outside monitoring our students as they exit cars and walk into the building. This helps to keep our intersection at Windsor and Miner clear. While there are not many families driving to school now, as the weather gets cooler or rainy, many will opt to drive, so we ask that you follow these expectations each day.

We appreciate you parking on alternate streets for arrival and dismissal. It helps to alleviate congestion on Windsor Drive. We have had some concerns raised from neighbors that live on the Sunset Terrace cul de sac, due to Windsor families parking in the cul de sac, delivery trucks and those who live there are not able to access their homes during our arrival and pick up. Please only park on one side of the street and not in the actual cul de sac to ensure that our neighbors are able to access their homes at all times. Thank you!

Important Arrival and Dismissal Information

Our staff cannot assist your children in getting out of your vehicle so please have them ready to exit the car with backpacks and other belongings ready to go on the passenger side.

**We will not have staff supervising students on the playground anytime before school starts. Please do not drop off your child early to play on the playground. Students are not permitted to play on the playground before school. We will open doors for student entrance at 8:55. Door supervision begins at 8:50 and ends at 9:05am. If you arrive after 9:05, please bring your child to the front office.
