New Skills Update!

The Tree of Possibilities is more than just a logo at Strive Center! We celebrate all the little victories - for every new skill a child learns, we give him a leaf or an apple sticker to put on his very own Tree of Possibilities poster. We keep one poster here at the center, next to his table, and one goes home, so families can celebrate all the little victories too. In September, our learners acquired 252 new skills! That brings our total for this year to 3,079 new skills!

Meet the team! Meet the team!

YuShanda, RBT

YuShanda started at Strive in March 2025. She was previously employed as an ABA Therapist with Merakey Autism Center.

YuShanda attended Ross Medical Center for Medical Billing.

In her free time, YuShanda enjoys spending time with her children, children playing sports, watching movies and spontaneous road trips.

Sensory Friendly Halloween Fun

We have upcoming trick or treat events near both our locations!

In Burton, we will be participating at U of M Flint's Inclusive Trick or Treat again! This event is free to all families, with trick or treating, games, crafts, snacks, and a silent disco. This event also requires registration and spots are limited. See flyer below.

Community Partner Visits

Our amazing Lead Therapists, Courtney, Ashley, and Katlyn have been reaching out to community partners and organizing visits to our centers. This is a great way to allow our kids to have new and different experiences in a place where they feel comfortable. We are so proud to share some of our recent visits with you and so grateful to our Lead Therapist Courtney for coming up with this great idea, and all three of our Leads for running with it!

We've had two recent visits in Brighton - Remi the therapy dog and his human, Nada from 4 Pawz Strong, and Angela from Mindful Motion Yoga.

The kids enjoyed walking and playing with Remi outside and the staff did too! His handler, Nada, was able to introduce Remi in a relaxed and fun way. Bringing animals to visit at our center allows kids the opportunity to interact with a new animal, to learn about what animals like and how to treat them kindly.

The kids also really enjoyed Angela's Sound Bowls. If you've never heard of Sound Bowls before, here's a little basic info:

How They Work

  • Vibration and Sound: Striking the rim or rubbing a mallet around the edge causes the bowl's walls to vibrate, creating a resonant wave.
  • Metal vs. Crystal: Metal alloy bowls (like Tibetan bowls) create complex, grounded, and multi-harmonic overtones, while quartz crystal bowls emit pure, clear, and ethereal tones.
  • Physical Resonance: Because the human body is mostly water, the acoustic waves can be felt physically and are thought to travel deep.

We'll keep sharing our Community Partner visits here and on our social media. With each visit, children will have the opportunity to learn something new in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Children are able to choose how much they want to participate in each activity. Parents will be provided permission slips for each activity so you'll know what's coming too and you can let us know any special concerns you may have. A huge thank you to Mindful Motion and 4 Pawz Strong for these great experiences!

If you know of anyone who would like to visit our centers, you can ask for Courtney in Brighton, or Ashley or Katlyn in Burton via phone or during drop off or pick up. They are happy to coordinate!

New Software Coming Soon!

We are excited to share that our center is transitioning to iCare, a management software designed to streamline our communications, scheduling, and student records.

Over the next several weeks, our staff will be working behind the scenes to set up and update all student and family profiles. As we enter this information into the system, you may receive automated email notifications or invitations from iCare.

Please feel free to disregard these emails for now! To keep things simple and ensure everything is fully configured, we ask that you hold off on logging in or creating your account until we have completed the setup process.

Once all profiles are fully updated, we will send out an official announcement with clear instructions on how to log in, review your account, and confirm that your family's information is correct.

Thank you so much for your patience and support as we make this upgrade to better serve your family! If you have any urgent questions in the meantime, please feel free to reach out to our office managers by calling 810-344-8082 ext. 1 for Brighton, ext. 2 for Burton.

Follow us on social media!

Many parents may not be aware of our social media, and we'd love for you to follow us! We share tips and tricks for families, staff birthdays and work anniversaries, and other info.
