SchoolWide Character Trait For October
October - Courage
Our character trait for October is Courage — being brave enough to try new things and do what’s right, even when it’s hard. At home, encourage your child to share a time they were brave. Ask: “What is something new you’d like to try, even if it feels a little scary?”
At the end of the month, one student from each classroom will be recognized at our school assembly for showing courage.
🎃 Spook-tacular Costume Parade! 👻
🗓️ Friday, October 31st ⏰ 9:30 – 10:30 AM 📍 Basketball Courts
Get ready to strut your spooky stuff at our Annual Halloween Costume Parade! 🧙♀️🦸♂️🧛♂️
We want everyone to join the fun, so here’s what you need to know:
🧡 Students:
- Come dressed in your coolest, creepiest, or most creative costume!
- Bring a change of clothes or wear school clothes underneath.
- Leave the weapons at home—no swords, guns, or anything scary-sharp!
- Keep it school-friendly: no spaghetti straps or bare midriffs.
- Make sure your costume lets you move freely—no tripping hazards!
- Face masks and helmets? Hold them in your hands, not on your head.
🖤 Parents & Visitors:
- Please don’t park in the staff lot (unless you have a handicap placard).
- Stand behind the student chairs to keep the parade flowing.
- Snap tons of pics and enjoy the magical memories! 📸✨
Let’s make this Halloween parade a frightfully fun time for all! 🕸️🦇🍬
🚨 Stay Informed with TUSD Alerts 🚨
In an emergency, clear and timely communication is essential — and Torrance Unified School District (TUSD) has a dedicated website to keep families and the community informed.
If an emergency situation ever occurs, parents and guardians should visit www.tusd.org/alerts for the most accurate and up-to-date information. This site will serve as the district’s central hub for emergency updates, so please bookmark it on your phones and other devices.
During a real emergency, Principal Guidi and all school staff will be focused first and foremost on keeping students safe. This means updates from the school level may be limited, as staff will be directly supporting and supervising students.
The school communicates with the district office through the Raptor App and text messaging, allowing the district to post verified updates quickly to the TUSD Alerts page. In the unlikely event that cell service is unavailable, our walkie talkie system provides an additional layer of communication between the school and district.
By visiting the TUSD Alerts page, families can receive the most current and official information — without waiting for an individual message to come through.
Remember: https://www.tusd.org/alerts — bookmark it to all your devices now for quick access.
