Message from the Principal
๐ Exciting Things Are Coming to MCE!๐
๐ฆ Dear Eagle Families,
October is off to a wonderful start at MCE, and we are excited about all of the learning, activities, and opportunities happening where the MAGIC happens! ๐๐
๐ Thank You for Supporting Mental Health Awareness!
This week, our hallways were filled with so many shades of GREEN as our students and staff showed their support for Mental Health Awareness. Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped us recognize the importance of supporting one another.
๐ Special Needs Awareness โ Wear Yellow!
We are looking forward to celebrating another important week of awareness next week as we recognize Special Needs Awareness. We invite all of our Eagles to join in the fun by wearing YELLOW as we celebrate inclusion, acceptance, and the unique abilities of every student at MCE!
๐ Accelerated Reader (AR) Is Underway!
Our Eagles are reading and earning points! Please continue encouraging your child to read at home each evening and complete their AR tests at school. We have some awesome prizes and incentives planned for our readers, so keep reading, Eagles!
๐ Fall Fun Is Coming!
There is even more excitement ahead! Stay tuned for additional information about our Cookie Dough Fundraiser, Character Day Parade, and Trunk-or-Treat. We can't wait to celebrate the fall season with our Eagle families!
๐ Parent Conferences Are Coming
Teachers will also be reaching out to schedule in-person parent conferences. This is an important opportunity to discuss your child's progress, celebrate successes, ask questions, and work together to support continued growth.
Thank you for continuing to stay connected, participate, and partner with us. We love seeing our students, staff, and families come together to support one another.
There is always something exciting happening where the MAGIC happens! ๐ฆ ๐๐
Letโs continue to SOAR together, Eagles!
Arrival & Dismissal
๐ฆ Arrival, Dismissal & Attendance Reminder
Eagle Families, we need your help as we continue working toward our goal of 95% student attendance each week! ๐๐
โฐ Morning Arrival
Student drop-off begins at 7:20 AM and ends at 7:45 AM. Students arriving after 7:45 AM must be walked into the school by an adult and signed in.
Getting our Eagles to school on time is extremely important. When students arrive late, they miss valuable instructional time, morning routines, and important information that helps set them up for a successful day.
๐ซ Afternoon Dismissal
Our school day ends at 2:45 PM. When possible, please avoid checking students out early. Just like arriving late, leaving school early can result in students missing important instruction and learning opportunities.
๐ฏ Help Us Reach 95%!
Our goal is to achieve 95% attendance or higher each week. Every dayโand every minuteโmatters!
Thank you for helping us reach our goal by getting your Eagle to school on time, every day, and keeping them with us for the entire school day whenever possible.
Letโs show up, learn, and SOAR together! ๐ฆ ๐๐

We Need Your Help
BUILDING BATHROOM INDEPENDENCEโTOGETHER
Learning bathroom routines is an important part of growing independence. Pender County Schools asks families to practice these skills at home, based on their childโs abilities: recognizing when it is time to go, telling an adult, managing clothing, using the toilet, wiping and washing hands.
Most children are potty trained by 4 years of age, but accidents happen. Please send an extra change of clothes and choose clothing your child can manage as independently as possible. Encourage their efforts and remind them that asking for help is always okay.
Some children need ongoing support because of developmental, medical or disability-related needs. Please reach out to your childโs health care provider for guidance if your child is having accidents more than twice per month. (yalemedicine.org) Feel free to reach out to your childโs teacher and school nurse for support.
Working together, we can support bathroom independence while keeping students comfortable, protecting their dignity and helping them participate in the school day.
