R.C. Edwards - March 2026 Update

Hope everyone's enjoying this spring weather! It's hard to believe we were buried in ice and snow just a few weeks ago.

RCE is back in full swing! Our school is focused on teaching and learning as we move into the 4th quarter of the school year. Love this time of year, but it moves quickly. We are positioned to finish the second half very strong.

We just had one of my favorite weeks, welcoming 5th graders from Central, Clemson, and Six Mile. It's almost unfair how our school reloads with wonderful students and families each year... they're great and we're excited to welcome them in the fall!

Below are the dates for S.C. Ready Testing this Spring. Please communicate any emergency absences in advance to Mr. Preisig.

The School District of Pickens County is now offering virtual volunteer training for those interested in volunteering in Pickens County schools. All volunteers must complete volunteer training every school year. To complete the training process, go to the website linked here and scroll to the bottom of the page and complete the six steps. After completion, you will receive an email confirmation. If you have any questions, please email ErinAllen@pickens.k12.sc.us.

In celebration of Black History Month, we had the honor of having Dr. Abel Bartley in our building to talk with our student body about the ways in which African Americans have contributed to American society. Our students and teachers have also worked very hard all month to create beautiful door decorations celebrating influential African Americans.

Parents, please remind your students to treat their Chromebooks kindly! At the beginning of the year, families pay an insurance fee that covers incidental damage to Chromebooks. However, this does not cover intentional damage that may occur.

For example, if a Chromebook is bumped and accidentally falls from a desk and the screen is cracked, this would be covered under insurance. On the contrary, if a student loses an online game in class and punches their screen, and it cracks, this would not be covered, and the family is responsible for paying for repairs.

Below you will find a price list of common Chromebook repair items. Most of our Chromebooks fall into the "14e" category.

Our Gardening Club has been working diligently to prepare for the approaching spring season! They have been working in the flower and vegetable beds, and they have also started growing tomato, broccoli, brussels sprouts, peppers, Snapdragon, snow peas, and lettuce plants.
