Hello Homestead Community,

Safety week was a success! Students were great listeners and had the chance to practice one drill per day. Great job Hawks!

Classrooms are continuing to work hard and there are some really cool grade level collaborations happening! I have some photos below of our 2nd grade team gathering together to discuss the steps for carving a pumpkin. This was a fun way to align with 2nd grade writing standards of describing events in a sequence. In Art, kids experimented with watercolor to see what happens when you drip, salt, spray, and blow around liquid watercolor. Students are looking for an expressive quality of the paint application that would fit the emotion they have selected for their expressive portrait.

As a reminder, there is no supervision for students before 7:50am unless they are coming in for breakfast, which begins at 7:40am. Additionally, we will begin recording tardies promptly after the bell rings. Students should be through their grade level doors by 8:00am. Starting on Monday, tardy passes will be given right after the bell rings at 8:00am at the grade level doors. Doors will still close promptly and students and families should then report to the front office to check in with Rachel. Thank you for your efforts to ensure students arrive on time and ready to learn each day.

Volunteers Made the Fall Festival Shine

We have several after school clubs and summer activities offered at Homestead through outside organizations such as Chess Club, Coding Club and Tennis and Pickleball Club. Colorado legislation has prompted greater need to screen and document volunteers in our schools. As of January 2022, we began asking every volunteer to complete a brief application to support activities in CCSD schools.

If you are currently volunteering or plan to volunteer in the future, please complete the CCSD online volunteer form. It should only take a few minutes to complete and you will only need to complete this form once a year to meet the requirements to volunteer in all CCSD buildings.

Please note: if you completed this application more than one year ago, it is time to do it again!
