Parkside Post
August 2025
Greetings Parkside Bullfrogs!
Last year we focused on going Above & Beyond at PSE and we are so proud of the exciting news that Parkside is an A school for the first time in our school's history! What an amazing accomplishment! Our students set goals for their academic growth and they are able to now see their success and progress on their state assessments! We know our students and staff will continue to build on those positive results with an even greater determination to succeed!
Our theme this year is Goal Getters! This is perfect for where we are right now! We want our students to work towards their goals and towards keeping that A school grade!
We are so excited to see all of our new and returning students! Our Meet the Teacher event will be on Friday, August 8. You can visit between 9:00-10:30 am. When you arrive, proceed to the Cafeteria where you will receive your child's teacher assignment.
Don't forget to PICK UP CAR SIGNS AND WALKER TAGS that morning! Walker Tags are required for Kindergarten and 1st graders! Help us keep our car line moving by having your car sign ready for the first day of school!
You may bring your child's school supplies to Meet the Teacher if you wish. Here is the link to the school supply list.. https://www.collierschools.com/cms/lib/FL01903251/Centricity/Domain/22/PSE%20Supply%20List%2025-26.pdf
We will be taking orders for this year's Spirit T-Shirts and Hoodies at the Meet the Teacher event. Please bring cash only. Order will be placed after the event and shirts will be distributed by the end of August or early September. T-Shirts are $10 and Hoodies are $20.
The staff and students at Parkside will be getting to know each other in the coming weeks to facilitate a positive and encouraging classroom and school community! Parents are an essential partner in this community and in a child's education and we look forward to working together. Our Parent Lighthouse Team is looking for members/volunteers!
There are many helpful links and important details below, so please take a few moments to look through the information in the newsletter. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher or call the front office. We are here to help!

BACK TO SCHOOL READINESS SUGGESTIONS
Re-establish Your Routines
Determine a regular bedtime, set a morning alarm, limit screen time and establish a plan for homework and chores. Easing into these routines before the school year starts helps children settle back into their habits smoothly.
Don’t Skip Breakfast
Speaking of routines, encourage your children to begin their day with a healthy breakfast. Students can have breakfast at school at no cost, every day. Not only will they have more energy to get through the school day, but they’re also more likely to eat healthier overall, have improved brain function and less restlessness.
Get School Supplies
Don’t wait until the day before school starts — get a head start on back-to-school shopping this year and cross it off your family’s to-do list. Set your child up for a successful start to their school year by sending them off to the first day of class with everything they’ll need to thrive.
Attend Meet the Teacher Event
Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to your child’s teacher. Having an open line of communication as the year progresses will benefit parents, teachers and children, too.
Create a Distraction-Free Space for Homework
For some kids, completing their homework is a breeze, but others may need more encouragement and assistance. If your child has difficulty focusing, creating a distraction-free space to focus on their assignments is essential. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a seat at the dining table or a dedicated study room, as long as it’s a quiet space where your child can complete homework and projects without getting side-tracked by toys, pets, television or other people.
Dedicate Time for Family
Schedules are often tight during the school year. Between homework and extra-curricular activities, it might be difficult at times to find time for other activities. Dedicate a regular portion of time, whether immediately after school, in the evenings or even on the weekends, to catch up with your children. Show them you’re interested in what’s going on with their lives and create the opportunity for open communication with them.
2025-2026 Annual Emergency Contact Form
Please fill out your child's emergency card using the Parent Portal at the link below, beginning on August 6. This should be done as soon as possible so we have up-to-date information.

CAR SIGNS!
Please make sure you have a car sign in your vehicle every day. It significantly slows down our dismissal when we have to check IDs and verify approved pick ups. If you do not have a car sign, please come to the front office and we will provide one. You can also request multiple signs if you have different people picking up your child.
Walker Procedures for Kindergarten and First Graders
The safety of our students is a top priority. All kindergarten and 1st grade students who walk home, need to be met at the walker gate by an adult who has the walker tag. Students will not be released without the proper walker tag being presented. If you forget your tag, our staff will call the front office to verify approved pick ups. The person picking up the child must have a photo ID to verify identity, if they don't have the walker tag. Students who walk home with older students, with parent permission, are permitted to leave.
Thank you for partnering with us to make Parkside a safe place for all!
Lightning Dismissal
MORNING DROP OFF REMINDER
Please pull all the way forward when dropping off your child in the morning. This helps us get more students unloaded in a timely manner. Students should not be dropped off until you pull up and are parked at a pole. The curve at the back of the line is NOT a drop off location. Please follow these expectations for the safety of all students and staff!
COACHES' CORNER
Literacy & Learning
We hope you have been reading with your child this summer, or encouraging your independent readers to pick up a book! If not, it is time to get back into the habit of reading for enjoyment each day! The best way for our students to improve their reading skills is to READ!
Math This Month
Science at Home
It's a great time to watch the weather updates and daily forecast with your child! Compare and contrast the weather in our area during the summer and winter and discuss the reasons for our almost daily rain showers and thunderstorms! It would also be a good time to talk about storm safety and what your family will do in the event of a hurricane.
PHONE? TABLET? SMARTWATCH?
Please remember that all devices must be turned off and put away while on campus.
Student Leaders
We will continue to recognize students for exemplifying our PSE Expectations...Prepared to Learn, Show Respect to Ourselves and Others, Be Responsible...We will also be recognizing our students for modeling the 7 Habits, as part of the Leader in Me Framework. For August, we are focusing on Habit #1: Be Proactive & Habit #2: Begin with the End in Mind.
