DATA CONFIRMATION is part of the annual registration process. Prior to REGISTRATION DAY (Aug 16th), all families need to complete DATA CONFIRMATION through PARENT PORTAL (use your parent log-in, NOT student log-in). Please click the following link for instructions and link to Parent Portal: https://www.orangeusd.org/enrollment/registration

Once the data confirmation is finalized and submitted, you can print and sign the emergency card. The school will collect the emergency card at REGISTRATION DAY (Aug. 16th).

New addition to DATE CONFIRMATION:

This year OUSD has added two new questions to Data Confirmation.

1. How many people are in your household?
2. What is your total monthly household income?

Nohl Canyon will host a Registration Day on Tuesday, August 16th. Registration Day allows families to turn in important Data Confirmation paperwork, drop off Emergency packs, purchase school uniforms and spirit ware, learn who your childs teacher is AND complete SCHOOL PICTURE DAY!!

• School Uniforms and Spirit ware will be available for purchase

School Picture Day will take place ON REGISTRATION DAY! Students may wear picture day attire for their school pictures!

Can't make Registration Day for Pictures?? - Don't worry - Make-up pictures will be held on September 22nd!

American Casual will be present on Registration Day (August 16th)

Nohl Canyon is a Uniform School:

UNIFORM POLICY:

Tops – Nohl Canyon Uniform shirts are to be worn each day. NC Spirit shirts are allowed throughout the week, along with scheduled themed days (Wednesday = College day). Nohl Canyon allows Free Dress on the final Friday of each month.

Bottoms – Uniform bottoms are to be any type (jeans and leggings included) of solid bottoms with no holes, stripes, or patterns. Colors are Black, Blue, Khaki, uniform plaid.

Attention ALL TK and Kindergarten families - Back to School Night for TK and K will take place on Tuesday, August 16th at 5:00pm. This will provide an opportunity for parents and students to meet their teacher and visit the classroom!

MODIFIED WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE:

TK / K: .....8:15 - 12:10

1st - 3rd: ..8:10 - 12:25

4th - 6th: ..8:00 - 12:30

Regular School Day:

TK - K: . .....8:15 - 2:10 (Gate opens @ 8:10)

1st - 3rd: ....8:10 - 2:15 (students allowed on campus @ 8:00)

4th - 6th: ....8:00 - 2:25 (students allowed on campus @ 7:50)

Nohl Canyon Staff looks forward to seeing all our returning and new Roadrunners on Wednesday morning. To help make the first day a successful start, please read over the following first day procedures:

• Students will enter campus at their designated time
• ONLY students will be allowed past the perimeter gates.

ARRIVAL

UPPER GRADE (4th, 5th, 6th) - enter campus at 7:50, school starts at 8:00

• Upper Grade students can enter through the front Gate or EAST gate near the upper playground blacktop.
• Upper Grade students will walk to the upper grade playground and find their 22-23 Teacher's Name Sign (adults will and students will help)
• Students will line-up at their designated Teacher sign.

Primary Grade (1st, 2nd, 3rd) - enter campus at 8:00, school starts at 8:10

• Primary grade students will enter campus through the front gate
• Primary students will walk to the primary grade playground, blacktop
• Students will line-up behind their designated Teachers name sign (adults/teachers will be there to help)

TK and Kindergarten - Gate opens at 8:05, school starts at 8:15

• Parents are asked to park in the EAST parking lot and Walk their TK/Kindergarten child to the Blue Gate for Entry
• TK and Kindergarten students will enter through the BLUE Gate near TK/Kinder playground
• Teachers will be on blacktop to guide and help all students.

DISMISSAL - Modified Wednesday

Tk / Kindergarten: Dismissal = 12:10

• TK/Kindergarten parents are asked to be present to pick-up their child at the Blue Gate
• Please park in the EAST parking Lot
• DO NOT park in the STAFF parking Lot / Bus Lane (West parking lot)

Primary Grades: Dismissal = 12:25

• Park in the EAST parking lot or wait in the Pick-up lanes
• If parked in the Pick-up Lanes - DO NOT Exit your car

Upper Grades: Dismissal = 12:30

• Park in the EAST parking lot or wait in the Pick-up lanes
• If parked in the Pick-up Lanes - DO NOT Exit your car

Nohl Canyon now has 2 water filling stations: Upper grade and Primary restroom areas. All Drinking Fountains are working. Nohl Canyon will no longer provide water bottles in classrooms or the office. Please have your child come to school with their own hydroflask or water bottle.

If your child will need medication at school during the 2022-2023 school year, please have your health care provider fill out the following form. Bring the completed form and medication to the health office before the beginning of the next school year in August, 2022.

Bio on Mr. Jones:

Mr. Jeffrey Jones is excited to begin his 4th year at Nohl Canyon Elementary School. He is entering his 24th year as an educator and 18th year with Orange Unified School District. He looks forward to continuing to build collaborative partnerships with staff, students and parents to provide innovative learning experiences for all students!

Mr. Jones previously served Orange Unified School District as an Assistant Principal at Villa Park High School (2014-2019). Prior to his administration position, Mr. Jones taught Physical Education at Cerro Villa Middle School (2005-2014) and J.H. Hull Middle School (1999-2004) in the Torrance Unified School District. Mr. Jones earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2012 from Concordia University. He completed his Kinesiology and Physical Education degree along with his teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach (1999).

Mr. Jones’ passion is to create an environment where students, staff and parents feel welcomed and safe on a daily basis. He strives for all students to feel engaged in their learning environment. Nohl Canyon is that place and Mr. Jones is humbled to be part of a wonderful community.

2022/2023 CARES ENROLLMENT FLYER. The CARES program will begin enrollment for the 2022/23 school year on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

CARES classrooms are located in the 3 portable classrooms next to the East parking lot. For entry, there is a Key Code gate. Once enrolled in CARES, personnel will provide the Gate Code.

The KIDS CORNER section of the newsletter will be a place to highlight our Roadrunner Students succeeding in outside activities. Nohl Canyon has a wide range of students in a variety of activities; Dance, Gymnastics, Equestrian, Cheer, Karate, Tennis, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey..plus many more. If you would like to highlight your child, please send Mr. Jones a photo and description of your child(s).
