Set Sail: Our week at JJHS
October 19 - October 24, 2026
JCS Mission
Our mission is to inspire students to achieve academic excellence and make positive contributions to our interconnected community and world.

Winter sports are underway, and there’s plenty of excitement at Jasper Junior High School! We will host our first basketball game this evening, with wrestling soon to follow. Our student-athletes and coaches have been working hard to prepare, and we look forward to seeing their effort, teamwork, and determination on display. We encourage our families, students, and fans to come out, fill the stands, and help create a welcoming atmosphere that reflects our Viking pride.
As we celebrate our athletic programs, we also want to emphasize the importance of regular school attendance. Every school day provides opportunities for students to learn, ask questions, receive support, and strengthen relationships with teachers and classmates. Missing school can make it more difficult to keep up, especially as lessons build on previous learning. Arriving on time and being present for the full day help students make the most of these opportunities and develop habits of responsibility that will serve them well beyond junior high.
Families play an important role in supporting consistent attendance. Maintaining routines, discussing the value of school, and staying in communication with teachers can make a meaningful difference. If your child is experiencing challenges that affect attendance, please reach out so we can work together to provide support. We want every student to feel connected to our school and confident about coming to school each day.
That same sense of responsibility carries into how we represent JJHS at athletic events. Good sportsmanship is a shared expectation for our athletes, students, families, and fans. We can cheer enthusiastically while respecting officials, opposing teams, coaches, and one another. Celebrating effort, encouraging players after mistakes, and handling both wins and losses with maturity teach lessons that extend far beyond the scoreboard. Our students take their cues from the adults around them, and we have an opportunity to set a positive example at every event.
Whether our students are in the classroom, on the court, or on the wrestling mat, we want them to show up prepared, give their best effort, and take pride in how they treat others. We look forward to a season filled with growth, memorable moments, and Viking spirit.
Go Vikes!

JJHS Curriculum Night
Jasper Junior High School invites parents and guardians to join us for Curriculum Night on Monday, October 26th, at 5:30 p.m. We know this is a busy time of year for our families, but if your schedule allows, we encourage you to make plans to attend!
During Curriculum Night, you will have the opportunity to hear from your child's teachers, learn more about our proficiency scales and how they guide student learning, and gain insight into the daily routines and expectations in our classrooms. We hope this evening will help you better understand what your child is learning and how we work together to support student success at JJHS.
Please note that Curriculum Night is designed to provide general information about our curriculum, instructional practices, and classroom routines. This will not be a time for individual parent-teacher conferences. If you have specific questions or concerns about your child, individual conferences can be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you and your child's teachers.
We appreciate your continued partnership and support as we work together to help every Viking succeed. We hope to see you there!

Mrs. Gann (Dept. Head)
7th ELA/ 7th Adv. ELA
Hi! My name is Morgan Gann, and I teach 7th grade English Language Arts at Jasper Junior High School. When I’m not at school, you can probably find me couch-rotting with a good book, planning my next trip, crafting something I probably didn’t need to start, or hanging out with my husband and pets. I also love visiting family, especially my niece and nephew! I’m excited for another great year of reading, writing, and making memories with my students!
Mrs. Kaufman
7th ELA
Hi! My name is Rachel Kaufman. I am married and have two wonderful children! They impress me every day, and I couldn't have asked God for a better, or more perfect family, for me. I laugh every day because of my husband, and I like to try to make others laugh (laughter is truly the best).
About me:
Favorite color: Yellow (warm like a sunset)
Favorite food: I love soup! My favorite soup is spicy thai coconut soup!
Favorite season: Fall is my favorite. I love the holidays, cool weather, sweaters, and blankets.
Hobbies: Reading, writing, baking, scrapbooking, and painting.
Ms. Parker
7th/8th ELA
Hi! I’m Miss Parker! I love spending time with family and friends, reading, and making memories with the people I love! My favorite part of teaching is getting to know my students, making learning fun, and watching them grow throughout the year. I’m so thankful to be part of the JJHS family!
Mrs. Ballenger-Bailey
8th ELA
Hi! I am Mrs. Bailey, and here are a few things about me: I enjoy spending time with my family- especially participating in at-home musicals with my kids (we love to sing and dance), watching shows/movies from the 90s/early 2000s, reading, and taking it easy with my cats.
Mrs. Robertson
8th ELA/8th Adv. ELA
Hi! I am Mrs. Robertson, and here are a few things about me: I am from Hubbertville, Alabama. I married my high school sweetheart in 2020 and we have two little boys - Rowan and River. I am currently pursuing my National Board teaching certification. In my (limited) free time, I enjoy reading books from my miles-high TBR pile.
