Eyes on our Eagles
September is National Library Card Month. When you get a new library card or renew your old card at any Torrance Library during the month of September you may pick a free incentive such as a plastic library card holder, a pen, keychain, or magnet. This is while supplies last and only at Torrance libraries during September. Libraries have more than books to offer, we have online homework help, database access, and streaming services.
Visit from Torrance Library
Ms. Lisa Guiterrez from the Torrance Library visited our assembly Friday. Everyone should get their library cards just like our Principal!!!
Hi Anza Families,
This week I have been making my way to each classroom for a quick lesson to allow students to start to get familiar with me and my role. It's been so much fun getting to know the students and their unique personalities during my class visits. Please continue to encourage students to introduce themselves to me (learning 500 names is a little tricky, introductions help a lot!) and as always, please don't hesitate to reach out if I can provide support.

POWER SCHOOL Registration
It is important that you update your emergency information, health information, and parent rights notification EVERY YEAR on PowerSchool. Login to your Parent Account and update all your information for each student (every year).
If you need assistance accessing the parent portal, please refer to the parent guide (linked here) or call the office and we will be happy to assist you.
Free and Reduced Lunch Application: The District sent out the request to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch application . Below are links to the cafeteria menu and the FRLA flyer.
Early Pickup: Please check the bell schedule and try to avoid pickup during lunch and recess. Always let your teacher and your student know to come to the office. This will help you avoid long wait times trying to locate your student during non-classroom activities.
See the bell schedule below.
ITEM DROP OFF: In efforts to cut down on classroom interruptions, PLEASE TRY TO AVOID DROPPING ITEMS OFF AT THE OFFICE. IF you have to drop items off (Planners, water bottles, lunches, homework), please have your student check the office at recess time. Mark your children's name clearly on the item and leave it on the table.
Absences:
Let your teacher know and report your child's absence by emailing ANZAATTENDANCE@tusd.ORG
- You must report an absence for every day that your child is absent.
- Doctor's note may be requested if a child is absent for more than 3 days for illnesses.
- Please contact the teacher directly when requesting classwork and homework for the day.
Note: All TUSD employee's emails are their Last Name.First Name @tusd.org - If your child is going to be absent for 3 or more days, please request an Independent Study so your child's absences can be cleared and class/homework sent home.
TUSD Portrait of a Graduate
The Torrance Unified School District proudly embraces a unified vision through our Portrait of a Graduate, which reflects the extraordinary K–12 journey we provide. This vision fosters a lifelong growth mindset and is intentionally embedded in every student’s experience in TUSD.
Our Portrait of a Graduate highlights five core elements that prepare students to thrive, excel, and carry forward a lifelong love of learning. It serves as both a compass and an anchor, guiding our school practices while reflecting the enduring values we share as a community.
Throughout the year, we will be highlighting Anza events and activities that align with and promote these core values.
