REMINDER - All vehicles MUST TURN RIGHT exiting the parking lot after school. It is an important safety measure, as there is a crosswalk to the left of the exit and a line of cars pulling into the parking lot. Please follow the Right Turn Only sign which is located at the exit of the parking lot.

Thank you for following all school procedures as they are in place for the purpose of keeping our students safe!

TRUNKS ARE STILL NEEDED!!

Our Student Council advisor would like you to know that we are still in need of some trunks for this event. If you are personally interested or know of a business or organization which may like to sponsor a trunk, please email Mrs. Paula Worzella at pworzell@pointschools.net.

Any students who have already paid will receive wristbands that day AT SCHOOL. When attending the event, students will then just have to show their wristband in order to walk through the line of trunks. Only those families who have not yet paid will have to stand in the line to pay.

If you plan to attend the event and have not yet returned the form with payment, the form is attached above and also available in the school office. SENDING PAYMENT to school prior to that day IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED! This will prevent a long line that night and help the coordinator know how much candy will be needed for the trunk sponsors. Thanks for your assistance making this a fun event for all involved!

McDill is looking forward to learning about and honoring veterans and active members of the military. One way we do this is to include family members of our students here at McDill in a slideshow and on a bulletin board to remind everyone of the honor and sacrifices which are so important to us all. The slideshow will be shared during our morning announcements and on social media pages. If you would like someone included, we ask that you please send us an email OR a physical copy of a picture, the name of the individual, their branch in the military, how long they have served, the name of our McDill student, and the relationship to that student. This individual could be a neighbor or family friend, as well, as we want to recognize as many members of the armed services as possible.

If you shared a picture last year and would like that person honored again, please tell us that person's name and note any information which may have changed. You can do this via email, or on the other side of the form.

If you do not want your honored individual to be included on our social media page, please let us know when you send in your information. They will still be recognized on our bulletin board, but will not be included in our slideshow.

Please email all photos and information to Abby Jones at ajones@pointschools.net, or send in a physical copy of a photo, if preferred. To send in a physical copy, please send it with the back side of the attached letter.

PLEASE SEND IN ALL INFORMATION BY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29TH, 2026!

VOLUNTARY STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE VOLUNTARY STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE

Because medical costs can be expensive, the Stevens Point Area School District provides families the opportunity to purchase accident insurance for their student through Student Assurance Services, Inc. which is underwritten by Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. Lincoln, Nebraska.

This supplemental policy would assist with out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e., deductible) should a student sustain an accidental injury while coverage is in effect. If families do not have any insurance on their student, this would be primarily for accidental injuries. There are a variety of coverage options, and premiums are a one-time payment for the school year.

Parents / Guardians can enroll students at any time during the policy period
online at www.sas-mn.com. Please review the short video link below and the attached forms regarding student accident insurance.

Foster Grandparent Program Flyer, explained below in text
zoom_out_map Show in original size

You Can Make a Difference in the Lives of Children

The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) of Portage County has openings for

volunteers to help in local schools for the 2026-2027 school year.

FGP participants help school children in the community develop the academic and life

skills necessary for their development and future success.

FGP is ideal for people who enjoy children, have some extra time, and could use a tax-

free stipend each month. Under the supervision of a teacher, each Foster

Grandparent spends 7.5 - 20 hours per week assisting children, one-on-one and in

small groups, who need extra help in areas such as school readiness, reading, social

skills or staying focused. On-going training is provided, and no previous teaching

experience is needed.

Teachers report on the benefit of having a Foster Grandparent in their classrooms,

helping to keep children on task. Children thrive on the attention, love and support of a

“grandparent” figure. Foster Grandparent participants find joy, meaning and purpose

in serving in the schools.

Candidates for the program must be age 55+ and meet income eligibility requirements

($2,660/month for a one-person household or $3,607/month for a two-person

household). Individuals with somewhat higher incomes maystill qualify if they have

higher medical expenses.

The stipend Foster Grandparents receive does not impact any other aid or benefits

they might already be receiving, such as subsidized housing or medical assistance.

They also receive travel assistance, meals at the school, and many other benefits.

For more information, contact the FGP Coordinator at the Aging and Disability

Resource Center, 715-346-1417.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION - See How You Can Help McDill!
Remember that our PTO, and thus our school and students, still benefit from the Box Top Program. We hope that you continue to use the Box Top App, if you are already, or that you take a moment to learn how easy it is to support McDill in this manner.
