The counselors have completed their meetings with Juniors and Sophomores, and they will meet with Freshman students in their classrooms through the remainder of this quarter. Students will review and continue to build their 4 Year Plans, and we will explore the Naviance program.
Every Wednesday during Advisory, your student will have the opportunity to watch a video from the Counseling Department that focuses on a specific topic. Some videos will discuss credit and course options, and others will pertain to monthly awareness events. If your student is absent or is unable to watch during the advisory period, the video can be viewed on our TWHS Video Archive website, posted on the TWHS website and here: https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-video-archives/home.
Additionally, in the TWHS Video Archives, our "Catch It All in the Fall" video webpage is now live! "Catch It All in the Fall" is an event that allows parents to successfully navigate high school requirements with their students. This year, "Catch It All in the Fall" will be held virtually. You will be able to select instructional videos about various topics that pertain to you. This event will be posted on the TWHS website. Go to Student & Family Resources then School Counseling, then TWHS Video Archives.
Students were invited to attend an informational meeting about Dual Credit for 2026-2027. Current students who have a qualifying SAT, ACT, or TSIA2 score in the appropriate subject area do not need to re-qualify. All other interested students need to make sure they sign up for the SAT, ACT, or TSIA2 test. The TSIA2 test will be given during the school day on November 19th to the first 225 students who pay the $13 fee. This fee has already been added to student's school cash accounts. Any student who isn't able to take the TSIA2 test in November will have the opportunity to test in March, or they can sign up for the Dec 6th SAT or Dec 13th or Feb 4th ACT test.
If you choose to take the TSIA2, you can sign up now. It is loaded into your School Cash account. Please refer to our Dual Credit website for additional information: DC Information Meeting 26-27.

Please reach out to your student's counselor with questions.
We know there are many options for tutors in our community. However, we strongly encourage your student to build a relationship with their teacher and seek their guidance when they need assistance or clarification. Our teachers are readily available before or after school for tutoring. In many cases, students also utilize peer tutoring through many of our service organizations. In addition, evening tutorials are available at the Senior Campus. Our staff is always here to help answer questions and address concerns. We also provide a list of tutors, some current or former teachers, on our website. You can also find it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s-LtJ3--mV1KL8CV9OlvKXZKw0sWq3_qau_id5WjWxw/edit?usp=sharing

Team Tennis are State Champions for the first time in school history!! The Highlanders defeated Katy 7-Lakes in a dramatic 6 hour Semi-final 10-9.
In the finals, played at Baylor University, TWHS(18-0) faced perennial power and 3-time defending State Champion Round Rock Westwood(21-0). TW led 4-3 after doubles play, but trailed 7-9 after dropping 3 third set super tie-breakers in singles play. The Highlanders showed grit and determination knowing they needed to win the last three matches to take the title. Remarkably they did by taking 3 consecutive third set super tie-breakers to clinch the victory 10-9 for The Woodlands first State Championship ever in Team Tennis. The Highlanders completed an undefeated season going 19-0.

We will also have time to work on shared projects benefitting Houston's Lighthouse for the Blind, and random acts of kindness to serve Highlanders. All participants will receive a leadership certificate. All proceeds will benefit the Rotary International Environmental fund. FINE ARTS
CHOIR: Hello Choir & Families! Please click the link below for all of the latest info regarding upcoming choir events: https://secure.smore.com/n/a7hsf.
THE WOODLANDS ART TRUST: Have you ever noticed the 71 works of art by established Texas artists that are permanently displayed in the hallways at school? This is The Woodlands High School Art Trust Collection and we are celebrating our 15th year! This collection of art works has been selected and purchased by our students over the past 14 years. Each year we add new works to the collection and our next selection process has begun. We invite established Texas artists who have had work accepted into a juried show and are at least 22 years old to submit works to be considered for acquisition in 2025. Our student committees are meeting now to determine which artworks will be considered for acquisition into our collection for 2025.
By the time you read this, our student committee will have narrowed down the submissions to 12-15 artworks that will be voted on by the entire student body in mid-November. Posters of the artworks will be on view at school in November and the original pieces will be displayed in the cafeteria just prior to voting. The students will purchase as many as possible of the pieces that receive the most votes on November 13. We are having a public reception for the artists at the school on November 7 from 1:30-3 pm in the front foyer of the main campus. All the artworks will be on display and everyone is invited to come by to see the works and visit with the artists.
The artworks are purchased through funds set aside by Student Council from the Homecoming Dance, however, the framing, lighting and conservation of these pieces need funding. Consider helping with that funding and show your support for The Woodlands High School Art Trust by joining our "One Hundred Friends of Art." Our goal is to have 100 arts supporters make an annual donation to support our cause. Donations are tax deductible and start as low as $10!! Visit our website to make a contribution: www.twhsat.org.
The Woodlands High School Art Trust (TWHSAT) a 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2011 to help maintain, conserve and display the student-selected, student-purchased collection of established artists at The Woodlands High School. The vision for the TWHS Art Trust is to see the art collection grow each year and to have it extend through the hallways of the high school. We also offer FREE tours of our collection to schools and other groups by appointment.
Other than the public sculptures around The Woodlands, this is the ONLY permanent collection of art available to the public. It is seen by THOUSANDS of people every day. Please consider supporting this unique collection that sets us apart from other public high schools and strengthens our goal of being one of the best high schools in the state and country.
For more information on The Woodlands High School Art Trust please visit our website: www.twhsat.org or contact Susan Cosculluela at twhsat@gmail.com.
CLINIC NOTES
🍎 Nutrition Reminders
This time of year can be especially busy (and sometimes stressful!) for our students. We’ve noticed that quite a few are skipping breakfast or forgetting to stay hydrated, which often leads to visits to the clinic with headaches, stomachaches, dizziness, or nausea.
Please remind your student to start the day with a protein-packed breakfast — things like eggs, meat, or peanut butter are great options — and to keep a water bottle handy throughout the day. We have convenient water bottle filling stations around campus.
A quick note about drinks: coffee and energy drinks might seem like a good pick-me-up, but they can actually make kids feel worse once the caffeine wears off. For our athletes, staying hydrated before and after practice is especially important — drinks with electrolytes can be helpful!
🎓 Attention Parents of Seniors
As graduation approaches, please remember that colleges and universities require a second dose of the MCV4 (meningitis) vaccine — given on or after your child’s 16th birthday. There’s also an optional Meningitis B vaccine available that offers protection against additional strains; talk with your child’s pediatrician for more information.
If you need a copy of your student’s vaccination record for college, just email Mrs. Ansley at aransley@conroeisd.net with your child’s name and ID number, and she’ll be happy to send it to you.
💊 Chronic Conditions & Medications at School
If your student has a chronic condition (such as asthma, severe allergies, or diabetes) that requires medication during the school day, please remember that a doctor-signed action plan must be submitted each school year before your child can carry their medication. Students may only carry inhalers, EpiPens, or diabetic supplies. Forms can be found here: 🔗 Clinic Information and Forms
Parents and guardians can also check in over-the-counter medications (like ibuprofen, Tylenol, allergy medicine, or cough drops) to be kept in the clinic. Medications must be:
● In their original, unexpired containers
● No more than a 30-day supply (no large bottles, please)
Medications containing aspirin, those that treat diarrhea, or those requiring a non-standard dose must include a doctor’s order.
Thank you so much for helping us keep our students healthy, hydrated, and ready to learn! Have a wonderful weekend! 🌟

Family Support Through The Welcome Center
We would like to inform you that the Welcome Center, led by Iytzia Cárdenas, has now been relocated to the Jett Center. However, she continues to visit our campus some days a week, mainly when she has scheduled appointments with families.
🧭 Her Mission: Guiding Families Through a New educational System
If you come across a family who may benefit from a one-on-one meeting with Iytzia to better understand and navigate the school system, please don’t hesitate to refer to them.
Iytzia is committed to:
Providing clear guidance and support
Helping families gradually access the information they need
Ensuring they do not feel overwhelmed or lost
🌍 More Than Just a Language Barrier
We often assume the challenge is only about learning a new language—but in reality, it’s much deeper.
Families arriving from other countries experience:
Culture shock.
Grief and loss from leaving their home country, family , friends , etc.
A complete shift in norms and expectations.
All of this can create confusion and uncertainty as they try to adjust. That’s where cultural and emotional support becomes essential.
👩🏫 Iytzia’s Ongoing Impact
With over 12 years of experience on this campus, Iytzia has played a key role in building strong connections with our families. Due to the growing importance of her work, her role has now been centralized, and she now serves all district schools through the Jett Center.
She identifies newly arrived families and reaches out directly—or sometimes is referred by families like you.
📌 How You Can Help
If you notice a student or family who seems to be struggling with adjustment, please:
Reach out to Iytzia ( 281-220-9527) icardenas@conroeisd.net
Share any relevant information.
Encourage families to connect with her.
Even a small gesture can make a huge difference in helping families feel seen, understood, and supported.
Thank you for being a vital part of this support network. Together, we can continue creating a welcoming and inclusive community environment for everyone.
WORLD LANGUAGES: TWHS offers a multitude of languages, including Japanese, German, French, and Chinese. As students decide which language to choose, there are a few things to keep in mind. Which language will make them stand out to future employers? Please see our monthly newsletter
for more information about who we are and what our languages offer.
