Dear Coosa Families,

At Coosa Elementary School, we remain focused on teaching, leading with, and living the 7 Habits—and it truly shows in our students every day.

One of our schoolwide goals this year is to increase the percentage of students with no office referrals from 69% to 73%. We are proud to share that, as of our December data, 96.8% of our students have no referrals! This is an incredible reflection of our students’ commitment to excellence and our strong partnership with families.

Each Friday, we celebrate positive choices through our Positive Referrals program. Any staff member can recognize students for demonstrating the 7 Habits and positive leadership. Students who receive a positive referral are announced during morning announcements, visit the library to receive their certificate and 7 Habits brag tag, and have their photo taken to be featured on our school’s social media.

In addition, students earn Bobcat Bucks, which can be used in their classrooms or at our new Bobcat Bucks Cart—a fun way to reinforce positive behavior and leadership.

We are incredibly proud of our students and deeply grateful for the support and encouragement you provide at home. This success belongs to all of us. Thank you, and congratulations to you as well for helping our Bobcats continue to lead, learn, and level up!

Over the course of the next few weeks (Jan 21 - March 6 testing window), our Multilingual Learners will be participating in ACCESS testing in the areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Mrs. Quinn, our ML Teacher, sent home notification to students who will be testing recently. ACCESS for ELLs assesses a child’s English proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. A comprehension, literacy, and overall composite level will be calculated and used for placement and scheduling decisions.

We invite students, staff, and teachers to celebrate the countries and cultures we'll be exploring by dressing for the day. Beaufort County Schools and Coosa Elementary now uses ParentSquare for all school and district communications.

This means:

• All messages from Coosa Elementary will arrive through ParentSquare (starting this month).
• We will no longer use BrightArrow for school messages.

• Teachers will no longer be able to use ClassDojo for messaging.

IMPORTANT DETAIL: Please make sure you sign up using the same email address you have provided in PowerSchool in order to connect your account to Coosa/your student(s).
