We have over 30 people for the Dec. 13th Friday Night Christmas High School Lock-in. Everyone attending is asked to bring, a snack to share, a nerf gun, $5 white elephant gift, & an air mattress. Also youth are welcome to bring game systems (Xbox and PlayStation) for an NCAA 25 challenge. Pick up will be between 7-8am.

On Monday, December 9th, Eva Lou Costa passed away. Eva Lou was a remarkable woman who had a deep love for youth, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have known her my entire life. Members like Eva Lou are what make John Wesley such a special ministry to families—a place like no other.

As a teacher, Eva Lou was passionate about seeing young people thrive, and she believed that loving them like Christ was the best way to help them succeed. Her legacy of love and care continues through her family, including her granddaughter, Callie Costa, who served as an intern with our youth ministry this past summer.

Eva Lou’s funeral service will be held this Sunday at 3:00 PM. Since we were already not planning to have youth programming as usual this Sunday due to the High School Lock-in, this allows our volunteers and youth to attend the service if they wish.

We’ll also be announcing a Middle School Christmas event in the coming week and hope you’ll join us when it’s planned.

WNO (Wednesday Night Out) is an all ages event each Wednesday Night at John Wesley UMC. From 5-6pm we offer a meal ($8 per person, children under 12 $4). From 6-7pm we have music ministry for our 6th-12th graders. We also have small groups for adults and children ministry activities from 6-7pm. We have a fantastic class this year. The class meets each month usually on the 2nd Sunday from 9:30-10:45am in the youth room. The class runs from September till April. Confirmation Sunday will be May 11th.

Youth Group for all 6th-12th grade students on Sunday from 5-7pm in the Gym at John Wesley UMC. If it is your 1st time youth enter the gym from the door in the back parking lot of John Wesley. We start with a meal and free time, then we move to group games, have a 5-10 minute devotion and finish the time with small groups. You are welcome to invite as many friends as you want.

All High School Youth who are part of the leadership team will meet after youth to discuss upcoming plans for the youth calendar. Our big project will be planning a High School Lock-In for the fall. To be a part of the team you must be in high school, attend Sunday night youth regularly, attend all leadership meetings, and assist in leading ministry at John Wesley.

LSUMC in Camden, SC, is trying to organize a statewide basketball tournament on January 3-5! We're gauging interest to see if we have enough youth to field teams in the following age groups: Middle School Girls, High School Girls, Middle School Boys, & High School Boys. If you’re interested in participating, please click the link below to let us know! Once we confirm enough players and teams, we’ll move forward with sending teams to the tournament.

Note: This is a new tournament format and will differ from those in previous years. Also any youth who is playing JV or Varsity Basketball can not play in the tournament. Don’t miss out—let us know you're in!

Revolution 2025 is a powerful, life-changing event of youth worship and spiritual growth at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, SC on January 24-26, 2025. The cost per student is $200 and those that register before Dec 31st will receive a conference t-shirt. The cost includes hotel, transportation, and most meals.
