Message from Dr. Reams

Randolph Families,

This Wednesday will be my last day in the building. It is hard to find the words for the last five years, but please know spending my days with your children has been the privilege of my career. They are all so very special to me and will continue to be. I know I will see many of you around town and I hope to be back to visit RES as much as possible. I will be a support for the new principal as needed.

Gifted and Talented News The second and fifth graders received Cogat scores in the report cards that went home in January. All students scoring above 90%tile in any subtest have been automatically referred for a gifted evaluation process. Those parent permission forms have gone home already. If you have a first or fourth grader please keep in mind that they will be screened next year. How can students be referred for gifted screening? A teacher or a parent may refer a child for gifted screening. If your child exhibits gifted behaviors and is performing above level, you or your child’s teachers may refer your child as a good candidate. The spring testing window opens February 1st and closes February 28th. Go to Goochland County Schools Gifted Page. Here you will find the Gifted Referral Process and the Initial Referral Form. This form is due to Randolph Elementary by 3pm on February 28th. Please contact egemmill@glnd.k12.va.us with questions.

5th Grade Graduation: We are aware there is a conflict with GMS and have been working to find a better date. Thank you for your patience. Our 5th Grade Graduation will now be Thursday, May 22nd @ 8:30am at RES, followed by the YMCA pool party for the kids. More details will come from the 5th grade team!

PTA NEWS

Saying farewell to Dr. Reams is certainly not easy. Her leadership, dedication, and spirit have left an indelible mark on our community, and she will be deeply missed every day. Dr. Reams has worked tirelessly to bring PTA projects to life, always putting our students, staff, and families at the heart of everything she does.

To honor her incredible contributions, the PTA has commissioned our very own Amanda Tucker, owner and artist of ART Studio, to create a painting of our beautiful school—a place that Dr. Reams has truly made feel like home. We hope this piece serves as a cherished reminder of her time here and the lasting impact she has made.

Dr. Reams, we will miss you more than words can express and wish you nothing but the best in your new role. Thank you for everything!
