2026-27 New Student Enrollment is Now Open 2026-27 New Student Enrollment is Now Open

Families new to the district, including PreK and Kinder families, can now begin the enrollment process for students new to the district for next school year (2026-27). Families who need to request a transfer to attend another LISD school other than their zoned campus for next school year can do so through Feb. 13 in Skyward Family Access. An additional transfer window will open May 1 for limited circumstances, but families are encouraged to submit requests during this initial window to be considered for priority campus placement.

To find which campus your address is zoned for, use our school locator tool. For transfer details, visit LISD.net/transfers.

PreK

LISD serves eligible four-year-old (on/before Sept. 1) students in full-day prekindergarten classes. Four-year-old students who qualify for free, state-funded PreK are guaranteed a spot in a full-day PreK class. Locations are subject to availability and vary by schools that house PreK classes. PreK eligibility confirmation begins April 1.

Free for families who qualify. Tuition-based PreK is available through the LISD Discovery Academy. Keep reading for details.

Kindergarten

LISD provides full-day kindergarten at all elementary campuses for children who will be five years old on/before Sept. 1. Students already attending PreK in LISD do not need to complete New Student Enrollment process again. Your child will automatically be enrolled at the elementary school zoned for your address in Skyward, which may be different from the campus your child attended for Pre-K. Families new to the district will need to complete the New Student Enrollment process.
