Principal's Message
Good Evening Weymouth High School Community,
Happy Mothers’ Day to all caregivers! We are all fortunate to have someone in our life that supports and cares for us.
This week, we proudly celebrated and recognized the incredible contributions of our teachers, nurses, and all school staff. From educators to counselors, nurses, administrators, ESPs, custodians, cafeteria teams, SRO and beyond—you each play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for our students. Your dedication and care reach far beyond the classroom, and we are truly grateful for all that you do.
We also extend a heartfelt thank you to our Parent Council for their generous support in honoring our staff throughout the week. Their efforts to recognize and celebrate our team mean so much. Many of our community businesses also supported our recognition of our amazing staff. The following businesses donated gift cards or items to give away: Baya Bar, Euro Mart, Denly's, Salon MB, Nails and Spa and Home Depot, Quincy. The following restaurants/stores donated food for Tuesday's lunch: Warren's Place, Johnny Kono's Bar & Grill, Weymouth House of Pizza, CeCe's Pizza, Gusto Pizza & Grill, Main Street Pizza, Appassionato, Leonardo's Pizzeria, Napoli Pizza and Shaw's. The Dunkin' gifts and coffee and donut cart were donated by all of the Weymouth Dunkin' Franchises!
WHS continues to celebrate outstanding achievements in its Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, highlighting the dedication, skill, and success of students across multiple pathways.
Senior Madisyn Ferrer has been honored with the 2026 MassCTE Student Award, recognized during a ceremony at Greater New Bedford Regional Tech. A standout in the Early Childhood Education program at Weymouth High School, Madisyn holds multiple childcare cetifications including ServeSafe Allergen Awareness, CPR/AED First Aid, RealCare Baby Simulation, and Strong Start EED. Madisyn will pursue her education next year in an Early Childhood Education program. Madisyn demonstrates a strong commitment to her community and takes great pride in her work.
All 11 seniors in our Cosmetology program have officially earned their cosmetology licenses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts! This milestone reflects their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their craft. Six of our seniors will be continuing their education through college or advanced training programs, while five are heading directly into the workforce. They are confident, skilled, and truly prepared for their next chapter. Congratulations to this outstanding group—we are so proud of all they have accomplished!
On Thursday, we held an Author Visit through our WHS librarian supporting new books for our students. Soman Chainani, author of the School for Good and Evil series, visited 9th and 10th grade ELA and history classes for three engaging sessions focused on his new book, Young World. Students explored themes of AI, social media, civic engagement, and youth leadership during the interactive presentations. Through The Very Asian Foundation’s May Book Project, 85 copies of the novel were donated to students, helping launch this year’s summer reading list with an exciting new title. Members of the WHS Asian Student Alliance supported the event, which concluded with a book signing and individual conversations with students.
Bus Transportation Applications for 2026-27
Bus applications for the 2026-27 school year will open this week. Families will receive an email with a link to the application form, along with the student information needed to complete the process. Families must complete the form for every K-12 student who needs bus transportation next year. Please complete and submit the form by the end of this school year, June 26th. If you have questions about the application process or payment information, please contact your school office.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Through our partnership with the JED Foundation and our Active Minds club, we will be working to change the conversation around mental health. Staff, students, and families will learn about the various supports that exist to help members of our school community dealing with mental health issues to promote their well-being. All staff and students are encouraged to wear green on Mondays for the month of May to help spread awareness. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, please call or chat the crisis lifeline at 988.
We do want to share some information on a non-sponsored senior activity called Senior Assassin. This game is not affiliated with nor endorsed by Weymouth High School. If you are on campus with a water gun or any sort of device that shoots water or are playing this game on school property (including the parking lot and fields that are used by WHS Athletics), there will be consequences, including but not limited to missing senior events. The use of water guns in this activity can be misinterpreted and cause a reaction that may put students in harm. We encourage parents to have a conversation with their students about the potential danger of using a fake gun in public. Again Weymouth High School does not condone this activity.
The last day of school is June 26, 2026. The last day of classes will be June 22nd and finals will be from June 23rd - 26th. The schedule for finals will be shared soon. Only students with excused absences during exam time will be allowed to make up exams. Please reach out to your child’s Dean for approval. Students are NOT permitted to take exams prior to their scheduled exam period.
Have a great week!
