First Week of School
Why Do We Need the Bond?
Friday September 9, 2022, we will celebrate Patriot Day. Patriot Day is observed in the United States on September 11th to commemorate the lives of those who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers in New York City, the Pentagon in Virginia, and those who perished when the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania.
I ask students to wear items that are red, white, and blue while attending school. This is voluntary. The day is not to scare children, but to highlight hope and charge our children to find ways to be part of a kind, caring, and accepting community, country, and world.
I will read prepared remarks honoring the fallen firefighters, police officers, medical professionals, EMTs, and everyday people who risked their lives to help others and continue to risk their lives every day. We will celebrate our resilience, our ability to work together, to help one another, and our commitment to respecting and accepting all people.
