Looking ahead:
Mark your calendar for Fall Festival on Friday, October 17th from 5:30-7:30pm!
Vendors, silent auction, games, candy, petting zoo, inflatables, and a dunk tank featuring Mr. Mullins!
Lunch Visitor Reminder
We love having visitors join our students for lunch, however we must ensure we are following the state guidelines for food. Visitors are not permitted to bring outside food into the school cafeteria. Thank you for understanding.
ID required for school events
We hate having to turn family away from awards ceremonies and other family events during the school day, but student safety is our first priority.
Food Drive
We love everything the Turnaround Resource Center does for our community and we want to support them as they love on our families.
We hope that you will join us as we collect non-perishable food items to donate to the Turnaround Resource Center. The class that brings in the most donations will receive a pizza party!
Donations will be accepted through OCtober Friday, October 17th.
It's coming! Reading for Education fundraiser
When we return from fall break, we will begin our Reading for Education fundraiser. This is the easiest fundraiser we do each year. Students complete an online booklet of contacts who might support Reading for Education through purchasing magazines or other items.
Remember - regardless of whether anyone contacted purchases items, the school receives automatic money for each student who complete the online booklet.
Each student who completes online booklet gets a mystery wildlife animal wrist hugger!
Watch for information to come home after fall break.
Safe Schools Week
Want to participate in a contest for Safe School Week? Categories and criteria are listed in the image below. Any submissions can be returned to Ms. Willis by October 17th.
We are a Title 1 School
What does this mean?
A Title I school is a public school receiving federal funding through the Title I, Part A program of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. These funds are allocated to schools with a high percentage of students from low-income families to help raise academic achievement for all students, particularly those at risk of failing to meet state standards.
How does LJES use Title 1 funds?
Title I funds supplement, rather than replace, state and local funding and can be used for various activities, such as hiring more teachers, providing additional instructional supplies, implementing after-school programs, or supporting parental involvement.
Here at LJES, we use our funding to:
- pay for half of the school librarian
- hire an additional staff member to work with small groups throughout the school day
- purchase technology that accompanies our Reading and Math curriculum to enable teachers to plan and meet individual needs
- pay for staff to receive training to further their teaching skills and knowledge
