Principal's Message
Dear Parents:
We would like to thank everyone who donated to the Weller Fun Run! We were able to meet our goal of $25,000! The funds will be donated to Camp Sunrise in honor of Wyatt Triplett. We were all so impressed with the success of the FUN Run. Our students did a fantastic job running the track and cheering each other on. Thank you PTO, the Triplett family, and teachers who helped coordinate this event. Summer and Skye Kao's parents, Anand and Clara provided the sound system, played great music, and took photos. It was a great sea of blue tee-shirts on the day that would have been Wyatt's 10th birthday.
A nook in the library has been created that is dedicated to Wyatt and to his love of family, reading, dinosaurs, and dragons. Be sure to check it out the next time you are in the building.
Kindergarten Registration
If you have not registered your incoming child for kindergarten, yet, please do so ASAP. We will only have 4 sections of kindergarten and we are almost full. Please contact our school registrar, Bonnie Fila, about the process.
School Tool Box
Our goal is to raise $1,200, and we have raised about $300 so far. The deadline for ordering your school supply kits is June 15th if you want your box ready for pick up by Open House in August.
Skip the stores and order here!

News from SWES PTO
PTO: What does that even mean?? The PTO is a Parent and Teacher Organization that builds community among families, bridges the gap between teachers and parents, and enriches the school experience. The PTO organizes fun events, raises money to help families in our community, and assists with school projects. The Weller PTO will be losing a significant number of parents next year. We're looking for new parents to step in and help our team of awesome volunteers! Being involved in the PTO is a great way to become plugged in and get to know your child's teachers, friends, and fellow parents. We have a variety of open roles with different commitment levels. We'd love to chat more about how you might help.
- THANK YOU to all the families and friends who contributed towards the Fun Run! We raised $27,418 this year! All event revenue will be donated to Sunrise Day Camp, providing safe, fun programs for children with cancer. We are so grateful for your generosity. It was incredibly special event, thanks to each of you!

Supporting Social Emotional Growth at Home
Here are questions you can ask your children about what will be presented this week in their daily SEL lessons
Problem Solving
Students are wrapping up the problem-solving unit! Grades K-2 will review skills like taking turns, apologizing, and sharing. Grades 3-5 will apply the different parts of the STEP
process:
S - State the Problem, T - Think of Solutions, E - Explore Outcomes,
P - Pick a solution.
S
K - If problems or disagreements arise at home, for example, between siblings, ask your child to suggest a way to help solve the problem.
1 - Help your child practice their problem-solving skills at home. Reinforce the importance of apologizing, asking for what they want or need, and finding a way to make amends when they encounter a problem.
2 - Ask your child how they solved the problem of Clea and Raquel both wanting the same book in the library.
3 - Ask your child to tell you how they and their partner solved the problem that Jase and Lila had while playing tag.
4 - Talk with your child about a time when they experienced interpersonal problems. Ask how they will use the STEP process to try solving these problems.
5 - Ask your child to tell you about the STEP process and give an example of what someone would do in each part of the process.
