Dear Tomahawk Families,

We are excited to offer the Science Fair Success Club for students who are interested in developing their own science fair project! The club will guide students through the entire process, from choosing an experiment and researching the science behind it to collecting data, creating a display board, and practicing their final presentation.

Applications are now due Wednesday, September 2, and club meetings will begin Wednesday, September 9. The club will meet after school on Wednesdays from 3:45–4:45 PM on scheduled meeting days.

Our planned schedule is Sept. 9 - Dec.4 as follows:

  • September 9: Introduction to the Science Fair, choose an experiment, and create a catchy project name
  • September 16: No club – 2-hour early dismissal
  • September 23: Research the science behind the project
  • September 30: Create a rough draft of the Science Fair board; students will begin conducting their experiments at home and documenting the process with pictures and observations
  • October 7: No club – early dismissal
  • October 14: No school – no club
  • October 21: Bring experiment documentation and pictures, organize data, and begin creating the display board
  • October 28: Continue working on boards and develop a digital/interactive component
  • November 4: Create graphs, continue boards, and begin preparing presentations
  • November 11: No school – no club
  • November 18: Practice presentations and finalize boards and digital components
  • November 25: Thanksgiving Break – students may continue improving projects and presentations at home
  • December 2: Final project presentations and finishing touches
  • December 3: Science Fair setup from 3:45–5:00 PM
  • December 4: Science Fair judging from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and Award Ceremony from 2:30–3:00 PM

Please keep in mind that portions of the experiment and project will need to be completed at home between club meetings. Our after-school meetings will provide students with guidance, support, and dedicated time to develop their projects.

Information regarding the County Science Fair will be announced in September.

We are looking forward to seeing our students explore, experiment, create, and share their learning! If your child is interested in participating, please be sure to submit an application by September 2.

Thank you!
