Weekly Update
August 8th, 2023
We have 1 full week under our belt! It was a hot one but a great one. Even though we should have cooler temps this week please still encourage your students to bring water bottles to school to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Please make sure you have downloaded the Jefferson West USD 340 app and that you have set up your account with rooms so you can see your students announcements and communicate with teachers. This will be the main form of teacher communication this year so please make sure you get this set up. If you are having any issues please don't hesitate to reach out.
5th
We started counselor lessons this week! I will be in your students classroom once a week on Wednesdays. This week, we started talking about what the school counselor does, and how they can help you. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you or your student is struggling with the transition to middle school.
6th-8th
This week, students spent some time getting acquainted with their new planners as well as learning some tips and benefits of staying organized. I would encourage you to check your student's planner as well as Skyward to help them stay on top of their assignments. If you need help, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Volleyball- On game days, please send food with your daughter to eat before and between volleyball games. Players are not allowed to eat on the bench unless it's for medical purposes. Team swag will be delivered to the middle school on Monday August 28th, it will be handed out to parents after practice so please come into the building to get your order.
Also, we need line judges for 4 courts and 2 matches for Tuesday's home volleyball game. They get into the games for free. Please reach out the MS office by noon on Tuesday if you are willing to line judge.
August 29th we have our first matches, this night will be a tri with Carbondale and Anthony MS. 8th grade will play at the Middle School with 7th grade at the High School Game play will be as follows.

Football- New league amendment states that A (8th grade) team will play football at 4:30 and B (7th grade) team following at 6:00! Also no limits in overtimes. We will play til we get a winner!
Cross Country- Thank you to parents for being so flexible and helping get the CC runners in during morning practices and picking up early at evening practices. Hopefully, we are done with the heat wave!
