Students Get Involved in the Future of WHS

Students are helping plan the future of WHS, because nobody knows this building better than the students inside it!

The students at the forefront of the conversation are a part of the Student Design Advisory Council. These students are working directly with our friends at Integrus Architecture to prioritize the spaces and characteristics that should define a new Wenatchee High School. The group will meet three more times before the end of the school year. They’re not the only ones getting involved: students are sharing their first-hand perspectives by leading community tours of our building, giving a closer look at WHS beyond the gym and auditorium.

If you missed our community open house this week, there's still time! The second open house is this Sunday, April 26, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Wenatchee High School. Drop in and come see it for yourself, and add your voice to the conversation.

Building Opportunities for FFA Students 🐑🏠

Wenatchee FFA students, advisors, and alumni spent their spring break building their agriscience barn and getting the property ready for animals to move in!

This project gives students the opportunity to raise goats and sheep to present at regional fairs right here at WHS and lets students participate who might otherwise not be able to do so. Thanks to everyone who spent their Friday helping out, can't wait to see how the program grows!

Junior Sprinter Breaks WHS School Record

11th-grade track athlete Mia Marcoux set a WHS school record at the CWU Wildcat Invite in Ellensburg over the weekend! She broke the previous 100m dash record from 2018 by a hundredth of a second with her time of 11.94. Way to blow the competition away!

Mia's accomplishment also won her this week's NCW Athlete of the Week! Here's what the Wenatchee World had to say:

Marcoux helped the Wenatchee High School girls’ track and field program place first overall at the CWU Wildcat Invitational in Ellensburg last Saturday. She broke the WHS 100-meter record and won the event with a time of 11.94, now the second-fastest in the state. She also placed second in the 200-meter (24.95) with a personal best and the fifth-fastest time in the state.

Wenatchee head coach Steve Roche said, “(Miyoko) has been working hard all year, and it’s beginning to pay off big time.”
