Halloween

Our Halloween parties and parade will be held on Thursday, October 31st! We are planning for the Halloween Parade to begin at 1:00pm. For the safety and well-being of every student, please select kid-friendly costumes that do not have masks or weapons. Masks present a safety hazard as they limit visibility; and many students across all grade levels find masks frightening. Weapon replicas will not be allowed. Students should bring their costumes to school in a bag or backpack.

Parents are invited on campus to view the outdoor parade. If it is raining, students will parade inside the building. Parents will not be able to come into the building to view the indoor parade.

Please know only PTO room parents and classroom party volunteers may attend classroom parties. All room parents and volunteers must enter and exit the building through the main office and present a driver's license or state ID before receiving a visitor's pass. Please also complete the Parent Volunteer Form and view the Volunteer Safety Video prior to your arrival at school.

To ensure a safe and orderly dismissal on this very busy day, we ask that children take their normal mode of transportation home. Parent volunteers are encouraged to carpool, as parking is limited. Thank you in advance for your support in making this year’s Halloween fun for everyone!

See Something, Say Something Awareness Day

As part of the “See Something, Say Something” initiative, and in recognition of National Awareness Day on September 25th, we encourage everyone to report any suspicious behavior or threats, regardless of how vague they may seem. When reporting a concern, it is crucial to speak directly with a district or school administrator. Our partner, Safe2Help Illinois, provides a 24/7 confidential reporting line that alerts both school administration and the police. If you encounter a threat after school hours, please call 911 or report through Safe2Help at 844-4-SAFEIL (723345) for immediate action. Thank you in advance for your partnership in these important efforts, as safety is everyone’s responsibility!

PTO Events Update

At Spencer Loomis, we strive to create meaningful and enjoyable events for our students and families. Our success depends on the dedicated volunteers who step forward to chair and organize these events.

To ensure that we have enough time to plan and execute events effectively, we require 1-2+ designated chairs for each event. A final call for chairs will be put out 45 days prior to the event. If no chair is identified 30 days prior to the event, we will need to cancel it.

We understand that this may cause disappointment, but this policy allows us to maintain the high standards we set for our school events while respecting the time and efforts of our volunteers.

We are currently in need of chairs for a Spring Family Event (currently we have 1 chair) and a Kids/Family Night Out Event. Sign up on PTBoard if you’re interested!

Thanks for your understanding and support!
