Aledo Growth Committee Concludes Work

Committee determines additional high school space may not be needed until 2032-2033
After eight months of working on planning for the future of high school learning space in Aledo ISD, the 2025-2026 Aledo Growth Committee presented their final recommendations to the Board of Trustees at the April regular meeting on Monday night.
The AGC started meeting in September 2025 with a charge from Trustees to lead the development of conceptual designs for future high school facilities, incorporating community input and vision. Through four community co-chair-led committee meetings and two public community feedback meetings, tours of local high schools and career and technical education campuses, a public online feedback form, and feedback opportunities from staff and students, the AGC presented two concepts: a second, more traditional high school and a college and career academy.
“This committee had the luxury of time to plan for what potential future high school space will look like,” community member and AGC co-chair Dan Reilley said. “As growth has slowed in Aledo, we are not currently in a position to need to build additional high school space. But we know that could change any minute, and now we have two conceptual designs ready to go for when the next growth committee is convened.”
Since the district’s growth has slowed since the formation of the 2022-2023 AGC and in an effort to be proactive in long range facilities planning, the 2025-2026 AGC’s scope was limited to planning and design; they did not develop or recommend a bond package to the Board of Trustees. After further reviewing the district’s enrollment and demographic trends, the AGC determined that additional high school space may not be needed until around 2032-2033.
Register for 26-27 School Year through May 1!
Being All in Aledo isn’t just a commitment - it’s a way of life
At Aledo ISD, we are Growing Greatness by creating exceptional experiences for our students to find what they love! We don’t just educate - we empower every Bearcat to discover their unique path and thrive. We're ready to continue that journey together next year, and registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open! Registration is an online process; click the link below for more information.
We urge you to get your registration complete as soon as possible because it helps us with staffing and planning for next school year!
Registering NOW helps ensure that your child’s spot at their zoned school is guaranteed since we are currently working on staffing. Your registration now also helps ensure your child’s course selections for middle and high school are still valid and helps secure elementary teacher assignments. Our counselors and admin teams are currently working on scheduling for next year.
Because of this, we ask that you register your student by Friday, May 1!
Does your student want to keep their district-issued Chromebook during the summer? READ BELOW!
This information is for incoming 7th- through 12th-grade students only! Incoming 6th graders will have opportunities to get their district-issued device later in the summer; stay tuned for more information!
We will continue to have a Device Protection Plan (DPP) that students must pay for in order to check out a district-issued Chromebook for the school year. DPP charges will be paid through MySchoolBucks; you will see an option in the Store portion of MySchoolBucks to pay the 2026-2027 Device Protection Program fee beginning on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Just as we did last year, if you pay for the DPP for the 2026-2027 school year by the end of the day on Sunday, May 10, 2026, your student may keep their district-issued Chromebook over the summer and keep that same Chromebook for the 2026-2027 school year. Please note that all filtering and restrictions on our district-issued Chromebooks will stay in place over the summer, even if you take the Chromebook out of district.
The DPP is $27, and this covers unlimited breakage on the Chromebook; the charger is not covered.

They enjoy learning simply for the sake of learning. They don’t need a prize or a high grade as a reward. Their reward is the process of doing the work and improving.
