MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
CHS Community,
The final week of the second quarter and the first semester is here! Next week is our MIDTERM week, where students will take comprehensive exams to assess their knowledge from the first semester.
With only 5 crucial days left before winter break, it's essential for students to focus and give their best effort this week. Remember, midterm assessments account for 10% of the final grade in all high school credit courses.
Let's make the most of these final days and ensure a successful conclusion to the first semester!
DOOR DECORATING CONTEST/SPIRIT WEEK
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Spirit Week and congratulations to our winners! Now, it is time to vote on the best decorated door at CHS. Please click THIS LINK to vote. Each student and staff member can only vote ONCE. Please vote for your top TWO doors. Voting will close Monday morning at 11:00 am. Winners announced at the end of the school day Monday.
MIDTERM WEEK
Please mark your calendars for the upcoming midterm exam week, which will take place the week of December 16th. Here's the schedule:
- Monday: White Day - No Midterms
- Tuesday: Red Day - Periods 1 and 5 Midterms
- Wednesday: Red Day - Periods 3 and 7 Midterms
- Thursday: Black Day - Periods 4 and 8 Midterms
- Friday: Black Day - Periods 2 and 6 Midterms
It's important to note that students are expected to attend school for the entire day on each of these days, even if they only have one or two midterms. There will be no "open campus" format for this midterm week.
We understand that this schedule may require some adjustments, but we appreciate your support in ensuring your child is prepared for these important assessments.

CLSD PARENT STUDENT HANDBOOK
Please click the banner below to review the updated and recently Board of Education-approved CLSD Parent-Student Handbook. This handbook is published annually to help ensure a safe and productive learning environment for students, staff, parents, and visitors. It outlines students' rights, responsibilities, and the consequences for misbehavior. Included in the district handbook is an addendum specific to Chardon High School. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the school administration.
We recently held our annual Topper Club celebration to honor students who have achieved a weighted, cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher. These exceptional students received recognition based on their years in the club: certificates for their first year, academic letters for their second year, Topper Club pins for their third year, and academic letters for graduation for their fourth year and beyond. It was inspiring to see these students excel academically while actively participating in various clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities.
For students who were unable to attend the breakfast, please see Mrs. Giddings in the Media Center to retrieve their award.

AFTER PROM
Hello Senior Class parents: CHS After Prom & PTO will host and fund the 2025 After Prom for CHS seniors and their guests on Saturday, May 10 following the Prom dance. For those unfamiliar with After Prom, it is a long-standing tradition held at CHS featuring games, music, refreshments and thousands of dollars in prizes. The intent is to provide students with a safe alternative to continue spending time with their friends and classmates on Prom Night.
The success of the After Prom event is largely dependent on senior class parent volunteers. Specifically, we are looking for parent support in these ways:
(1) After Prom Planning: This will largely begin at our next After Prom meeting, Monday, January 13 at 7:00 pm in the CHS Media Center. We will need an After Prom event co-chair along with chairs for planning sub-committees. If you can oversee a committee, here is the sign-up. If you need more info, feel free to contact me. If you would like to help plan, but can't chair a committee, sign up for "Planning Help" and we'll get you connected.
(2) Volunteering the weekend of the After Prom event: We will need MANY volunteers the weekend of the event with set-up/decorating, working the event, and tear-down. Look for that sign-up in April.
(3) Fundraising through Basketball Concessions: Concession sales fully fund After Prom among other initiatives. We could really use some help finishing off our concession fundraising for the school year. Volunteer slots are 90 minutes. Here are the sign-ups:
Your support is greatly appreciated. We hope to see you at the After Prom meeting on January 13 and look forward to putting on another great event for our students. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions.
