Attendance Matters
Thank you to our Dolphin staff, families, and students for your hard work and dedication in ensuring strong attendance during the first few weeks of school.
Your commitment to being present and engaged has set a positive tone for the year, and we’re off to a fantastic start! Let's keep this momentum going and continue to prioritize consistent attendance. Together, we’re building the foundation for a successful school year!
Please see the email below from our very own Superintendent of VISD, Sheila Collazo.

Morning Pick-Up and Afternoon Dismissal Safety Procedures
These procedures are intended to keep everyone safe and to facilitate smooth and orderly traffic flow. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
Carline - When dropping off or picking up your child at the front of the school, please follow these guidelines to ensure safety and efficiency:
The lane closest to the sidewalk is the designated car line for drop-off and pick-up.
The outside (left) lane is NOT to be used for drop-off or pick-up. This lane should only be used if you are parking in a designated spot and walking your child into the building.
Cutting in line is not allowed. If you are seen doing so, you will be asked to return to Guy Grand and re-enter at the back of the line.
For safety reasons, children may only enter or exit vehicles when the sidewalk begins.
A turquoise pickup card is required for pickup. If you do not have your card, you will need to show a photo ID to confirm you are listed on the student’s emergency contact list.
Please keep your pickup card visible on your dashboard until your child is safely loaded into your vehicle. This helps staff ensure each student is placed in the correct car.
Walkers (PM Only) - Students in Pre-K through 1st grade who walk home must be accompanied by an older sibling or family member. These students will be released from Chandler Elementary only at the intersection of Salem and Guy Grant or at the Pinnacle Pointe gate. It is the responsibility of both parents and students to establish and follow a safe walking route and routine.
Back Parking Lot - The back parking lot is reserved exclusively for ECSE students, school buses and daycare buses.
Parking Guidelines - There is limited parking available in the front parking lot. Do not park or leave your vehicle unattended along the right-side sidewalk directly in front of the school, as this area is designated as an emergency lane. Please note that the sidewalk areas outside the first-grade wing and front entrance are part of the car line and must remain clear.
Event / Overflow Parking - For events or when the main lot is full, you may park along the right-side curb that borders the front parking lot or in the HEB-side parking lot.
Reminders:
Have students ready to exit the vehicle quickly with all belongings (backpacks, water bottles, jackets, etc.).
Do not exit your vehicle in the car line. If your child needs assistance with seatbelts or unloading, please park in a designated space.
Do not stop or block the walkway when dropping off or picking up students.
The school day ends at 3:15 PM, and students must be picked up on time.
Any student not picked up by 3:50 PM must be checked out from the front office by a parent or guardian listed on the emergency contact list, with a valid ID or car tag.
Walk-up pickups at the front porch area are not allowed.
Be mindful of your speed, the slower the better.
Refrain from using cell phone use while driving in the car line.
Thank you for helping us keep arrival/dismissal safe and efficient for all families.
Nurse's News
Welcome to Chandler Nurse News! I'm Nurse Hawk, and this is my 6th year as the Chandler School Nurse. My goal is to help keep your kiddos healthy and in class. However, if your child wakes up with a fever of 100.0 or higher, or has had diarrhea 3 or more times, please keep them home and contact me or the front office to let us know. I will also be starting Vision and Hearing screenings this month and will let you know if it appears that your child is having trouble with either one. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any health-related concerns. My email is rebecca.hawk@visd.net
Where to take donations.....
All donations can be sent with your child and taken to their HR class. Mrs. Delagara is working to get bins in the rotunda and collect donations there.

VISD Citizenship Ready Plan
The VISD Citizenship Ready Plan is a districtwide initiative designed to ensure that students develop the skills and dispositions needed to become productive and responsible citizens. A primary goal of the plan is to promote positive behaviors and character development. The plan also incorporates a framework for addressing behavioral issues in a fair and consistent manner, including zero tolerance for specific behaviors.
