November Lifeline: Gratitude November Lifeline: Gratitude

This month, we’re focusing on Gratitude—noticing and appreciating the good things in our lives and the people who make them happen. Gratitude is about choosing to pause, reflect, and say “thank you” for both the big and small things that make each day brighter.

When we take time to express gratitude, we strengthen our connections and nurture a more joyful outlook on life.

Dear Boone Meadow Families - Dear Boone Meadow Families -

Thank you to our Veterans, parents, and guardians for taking time this week to attend and support our Veterans Day program on Monday. We deeply appreciate your flexibility as we pivoted to an afternoon program due to the two-hour delay and snowy morning. For anyone who was unable to join us, a copy of the program video is available below.

Food Drive Success - WOW! What an amazing outpouring of support for our food drive. A huge shoutout to our Student Council for organizing this meaningful opportunity to support local families and food pantries. Your tremendous generosity has been amazing—we’ve already collected nearly 2,400 items! Donations will be delivered to local pantries on Monday.

As we head into the coming days, there is so much happening in and around our school community! Please take note of the highlights below:

  • PTO “Adopt Team Meadow” - It’s the season of giving! Our PTO is launching the annual “Adopt Team Meadow” effort. If you’d like to volunteer or learn more about ways to get involved, please see the PTO section below.

  • Fall Book Fair – Next Week: November 17–21 - Our Literati Book Fair is here! Students will visit throughout the week, and preview day was today. Families are also invited to shop during our Wellness/STEM Night on November 20.

  • Wellness/STEM Night – Thursday, November 20 (5:30–7:00 PM) Let's fill the house! Mark your calendars for an evening of hands-on fun and discovery! Join us for exciting activities and experiences designed for the whole family.

  • Steel Eagles Robotics Competition – Saturday, Nov. 15 -Jenn Bender (STEM/Robotics) will be leading our STEEL EAGLES at ZCHS this weekend. Join me in cheering them on—Go BME STEEL Eagles! We’re so thankful for Jenn’s leadership and the way she builds excitement and confidence in our students.
  • Crosswalk support - Morning crosswalk assistance will continue daily until Thanksgiving break. Staff support resumes again in the spring.
  • Student Food & Fee Assistance - Life can bring unexpected challenges, and support is available. Please see the section below for details on how Boone Meadow can help with meals and student fees.
  • Dine for Dollars at HotBox Pizza on Tuesday (11/18) - Mention BME and 20% of your order total goes back to PTO to support some upcoming outdoor learning initiatives. (See flyer)

At Boone Meadow, we are continually reminded how fortunate we are to share this community with such caring and supportive families. Life can bring its challenges, but it’s so much better when we walk through them together. Team Meadow is here for you and your children—and we are grateful to partner with you in helping each child learn, grow, and thrive.

Wishing you a restful and joy-filled weekend!

With gratitude,

Tom & Jarrod

With our recent winter weather, this is a good time to share a few reminders about procedures on snowy or cold days:

  • Two-hour delays: On delay days, we are unable to have outdoor recess due to the abbreviated day and adjusted schedules for related arts and lunch.

  • Snow play: Students must have proper snow gear (snow pants, boots, hats, gloves) in order to play in the snow. Students without full gear will still have access to games and playground equipment in the cleared/safe areas of the back lot.

  • Cold temperatures: We value fresh air, and students should be prepared for outdoor play if temperatures are above 10 degrees. Thank you for sending your child prepared for the weather.

  • Label your gear: Winter gear is easily misplaced, and names on items help us return belongings quickly. Our lost and found grows rapidly this time of year!

Life can sometimes bring unexpected challenges, and we want our Boone Meadow families to know—you are not alone. If your family could use a little extra support with food items, meal assistance/student fees, whether for a short season or throughout the school year, we’re here to help in kind and confidential ways.

Weekend Food Support – BME Backpack Program
Through our Backpack Program, Boone Meadow provides non-perishable food items each Friday to families who may benefit from additional support. Items often include soups, vegetables, macaroni and cheese cups, or snacks to help bridge the weekend gap. Food is placed discreetly into students’ backpacks before they head home.

Lunch Guests

We are ready to welcome lunch guests! Students and their guests will have lunch at designated locations in the front lobby area. Please no more than 2 guests per student due to limited space. So that others may have the opportunity, we ask that you not sign up more than 1 time per month. As we implement this new system/procedure, we will limit availability the first two weeks to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday visits.

Here's how it works:

  • Sign up for a reservation in advance using this link: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/BMELunchSchedule@zcsk12in.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/ When you sign up, please be certain to complete all fields requested.
  • Bring a photo ID and arrive 5 minutes early (lunch times are listed on the signup form link above).
  • Your child will meet you in the front office area when they are ready.
  • HAVE FUN!

During the school day, all volunteers are expected to check in at the front office. Prior to the volunteer's first volunteer experience, the individual must sign a Non-disclosure Acknowledgement Form and have successfully completed a Full Criminal History Background Check.. Necessary background check paperwork is available on the ZCS website at the Volunteers/BRAVO link and should be submitted at least 10 days before the intended volunteer date. Volunteers must also view the state-mandated confidentiality/bullying video, provided on the Volunteer/BRAVO website. The volunteer will pay the fee for the full background check which will expire after 5 years.

During the school day, all visitors must enter via the front door and sign in at the front office. Visitors need to be prepared to present a government-issued photo ID which will be scanned against the National Sex Offender Registry. All visitors will be issued a visitor badge/tag to be worn inside the building at all times. Visitors other than parents/guardians must be prearranged and organized through the main office.
