Our Summer Fair

Headteacher's comment Headteacher's comment

Good afternoon to all

What a fantastic week it has been at Overthorpe! Our Summer Fair was a real highlight, bringing the whole school community together for an afternoon full of fun and laughter. Well done to our Year 6 children on their SATs results — your hard work has truly paid off and we are very proud of you all.

We also finally managed to squeeze in the KS2 Sports Day, thanks to the weather holding up just long enough for a great day of competition and team spirit. Today, we enjoyed an excellent football festival, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of our young players.

Looking ahead, next week is the final week of the academic year and we have a number of exciting events to look forward to. These include our attendance awards, the 99 Club celebration, the Year 6 Leavers’ Service on Friday, and the much-anticipated Year 6 production.

You should have all received your child’s end of year report today. We hope you enjoy reading about their learning journey and celebrating their successes throughout the year.

Have an excellent weekend, mak sure you apply the sun cream and I will see you all on Monday.

Mr Mitchell.

Summer Fair Summer Fair

We are thrilled to say our School Summer Fair was a fantastic success! The weather was kind to us, the sun shone, and it was a joy to see so many families enjoying the festivities together.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the parents and carers who came along and supported the event. Your enthusiasm and community spirit made the event extra special, and we hope you all had a lovely time exploring the stalls, playing games, and enjoying the hot dogs and ice creams.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff who played a part in organising and running the fair. Your hard work and dedication were truly appreciated. The event simply wouldn’t have been possible without your efforts.

A quick reminder: not all raffle prizes were collected on the day. Please keep an eye out for a message on Dojo with the winning raffle numbers. You might be one of our lucky winners!

We very much hope this will be the first of many more summer fairs to come. Thank you again for your support and for helping us create such a memorable day for our school community.

Staff farewells Staff farewells

As the academic year draws to a close, I write to inform you of the departure of three valued members of our Overthorpe family: Mrs Griffiths, Mrs Wardman, and Miss Khurshid.

Mrs Griffiths
After more than a decade of dedicated service, Mrs Griffiths will be leaving us for pastures new. Throughout her time at Overthorpe, she has worked in a wide variety of roles and has been instrumental in the early development of hundreds of children as they began their educational journeys. Her impact on our school and its community is truly impressive, and her legacy will be felt for years to come.

Mrs Wardman
Miss Wardman has been a key player in our school team for ten years, most recently making a significant contribution in Lower Key Stage 2. Her adaptability and wide-ranging skill set mean she has made a difference wherever she has worked in school. Her new school is incredibly fortunate to have her joining their team.

Miss Khurshid

Miss Khurshid leaves us after working closely with the Year 1 team, particularly in a supportive role with one of our SEND children. She is now embarking on a relocation and the next stage in her life. Her compassion and dedication have been greatly appreciated, and she will be missed by colleagues and children alike.

We would like to personally thank all three for the invaluable roles they have played at Overthorpe. On behalf of everyone here, I wish them all the very best for the future. Please remember, you know where we are, and you are always welcome back to the ‘nest to come home to' at any time.

Message for parents of children who attend Owls Message for parents of children who attend Owls

Dear Parents/Carers

Thank you again for all your continued support over the last year.

Please can we make you aware that, as usual, Owls will be closing early, at 4.30pm on Friday 18th July. Therefore, we would very much appreciate it if you could all pick up your children promptly at this time.

A reminder also that sessions should be paid in advance via Parentpay. Any sessions for week beginning 14th July must be paid for by Sunday 13th July. This does NOT affect you if you pay monthly via a childcare voucher scheme.

May we also take this opportunity to wish you and all your family a safe and relaxing summer break

Thank you.

Kind Regards

Sonia and the Overthorpe Owls Team
