What's going on at Barge-Lincoln Elementary?
December 2025
Barge Updates
Barge is busy, busy with loads of learning and positivity swirling the classrooms and hallways. This past month, there has been our November PRIDE assembly, November Game Night with our PTO, spirit week will be coming before the holiday break, and a schoolwide sing-along to celebrate the joy of the holiday season will be on December 19th. Thank you to all of our Barge families who have supported our Barge Bobcats with cheers, love, and praise. Our Bobcats can, surely, feel the love that surrounds them.
Also, Costco has started to send volunteers to come and read with our kinderkids every Wednesday from 11:00-11:45am. It is incredible to see an outside community partner dedicate time to work with our Bobcats! If you know someone who works for Costco, please share your praise for the community support!
Lastly, remember to stay engaged and check-in frequently with your child's classroom teacher. Our staff is available to speak with families BEFORE and AFTER school via phone, ParentSquare, or face-to-face. Please reach out, as our Barge staff is here for you and your learner!

News at Barge!
As we end the first semester of the school year, our learners have completed 75 +school days. The first semester (90 days) will be toward the end of January. Mrs. Qualo and I want to thank you for helping make this first half of a year a success for Barge. We have smiling students, staff, and even families. Barge will make positive growth in our learning and we cannot wait to see what we accomplish by the end of the 2025-26 school year.
As a friendly reminder, the doors open at 8:15am for students. We do not recommend students being dropped off without adult supervision. The school will not provide supervision before 8:15am.
During the drop-off time (8:15am to 8:45am), we ask that families follow the direction of the staff. Please DO NOT pass other vehicles, as we want all of our learners to remain safe. If you have any questions about our procedures for drop-off in the morning, we'd be happy to have a conversation with you.
Please take note of these important reminders:
Also, please remember that it is imperative your child receive nine (9) to 11 hours of sleep each night. Your child's brain needs to be rested to ensure they can give their absolute best all day!
Remember, here at Barge, it is our continued mission to keep families informed on their child's learning and progress throughout the school year.
Please remember that at any time, you can reach out to your child's teacher(s) to get information on how your child is doing in school. Our teachers are available from 8:15-8:40am and 3:15-3:45pm during the school day.
You, as the family of our precious learners, are a team with our staff! Thank you for working with our school community to ensure we provide a learning environment that is positive, safe, and fun-loving. Our learners have a bright future and a supportive school that will ensure we are reaching and teaching every student, every day!
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher first and if you need to continue the conversation, we can include the principal(s). Having a conversation with your child's teacher is the first and most important step, as they work with your learner for the majority of the day.

Please ensure you are prepared to have your child picked up at 12pm. Lunch will be served.
Staff will have professional development for the afternoon.
Students will return to a regular school day on Thursday, December 11th.
Attendance Reward on Early Release Wednesdays!
To incentivize students to come on early release Wednesdays, the Barge-Lincoln Elementary Attendance Committee is awarding randomly selected students a pawprint on their lunch tray. If you get a paw print, you win a cookie!
Thus far, our bobcats are loving and it is proving to help draw students into schools on these early release days.
As a school, we have a goal that our learners will attend school 171 out of 180 days!
WE CAN DO THIS!

Lost and Found!
Parents, please talk to your teacher if you would like to look through the lost and found.
Meet our STUDENT LEADERS for 2025-26!
5th grader student leaders are expected to follow the expectations of giving 100% effort, having minimal absences, a desire to be a role-model for peers, want to interact with the school community, and help with assemblies.
We have selected the top group of students who demonstrate leadership abilities both inside and outside of the classroom with their academics, positive nature, and work ethic. You will see our leaders every morning with monitoring the playground, hallways, and interacting with our school community.
Similarly, every morning, our student leaders complete morning announcements for the school. They get to lead the flag salute, provide friendly reminders of how to follow our three standards of showing respect, making good decisions, and solving problems, along with making sure the student body is aware of upcoming events.

Toys and Cellphones
As a friendly reminder and per our student/staff handbook,
please see the following agreements:
Student cell phones: Time in the classroom is an opportunity for learning. We work hard to limit the number of distractions that occur during class. Due to the TREMENDOUS and FREQUENT distractions that cell phones cause, we have a building-wide, cell-phone policy. Student cell phones are to be turned off and remain in a backpack or upon entry to the school grounds. Staff members who see these items with students during the school day will confiscate them and give to the main office, as soon as possible, to keep staff liability at a minimum.
1st offense---return at the end of the day.
2nd offense---parent/guardian will need to come and pick up the phone.
3rd offense---phone will be returned at the end of the month.
NO TOYS AT SCHOOL!
Please support your learner(s) by reminding them that toys, including trading cards (POKEMAN CARDS), and toy weapons are not allowed at school.
This will help eliminate distractions here at school.
Thank you for your support with this!
Event Information
Join us for the all-city walk down MLK Boulevard on Monday, January 19th at 10am.
WEAR YOUR BARGE gear!
Blaze Bucks and the School Store!
BLAZE!
Our mascot has Blaze Bucks that our learners can earn by following our three standards:
1. Show respect
2. Make good decisions
3. Solve problems
When our learners follow these standards, they have an opportunity to earn Blaze Bucks that can be accumulated and spent at the classroom or school store. We encourage you to ask your child how many Blaze Bucks he/she has earned and if they've spent any yet.
WE ARE BARGE!
WE ARE THE BEST AROUND.
