Congratulations to all our new year 7 students on a brilliant first few days of secondary school! We’re delighted to welcome both our students and their families into the Oasis community. Throughout their first few days, they took part in an exciting scavenger hunt, explored our LEARN ethos and 9 Habits, created presentations for our upcoming parents’ evening, learned the rules and routines of secondary school, and spent time getting to know one another and their teachers. It’s been an impressive start, and we can’t wait to see all they achieve this year!

We were delighted to welcome our new Year 12 into the academy this week. After achieving our best ever GCSE results, it is a great to see so many of our year 11 students coming home, and our new students, choosing us for those next vital steps of their academic journey.

We began Wednesday reflecting on the achievements of our outgoing year 13 students, who also achieved our best ever outcomes, with all students securing a place at university or on an apprenticeship. We believe our Sixth Form represents the very best of the school and seek to embody our LEARN values in everything we do.

One of our ex-year 11 students, Collins, chose to study biology, chemistry and psychology with us. Here is his reason why, “I chose my subjects because it they will help me get into a top university to study medicine. I wanted to come back to OAE Sixth form as I have a great relationship with my teachers and I did really well in my GCSE’s. I know they will help me to do just as well, if not better, in my A Level subjects.”

Reah Heer considered joining another Sixth Form but decided she would be much happier here at OAE. “I find OAE such a welcoming environment, everybody is really friendly and I want to get into a Russell Group university and know this is the best route to achieve that.”

Our Year 13 students began their year with focused academic mentoring meetings with the leadership team and their tutors. Being reflective and setting clear targets are all part of the process of equipping them with the skills and the grades to get them into top universities next summer.

It has been such a positive start and we are looking forward to a fantastic year!

We have already shared this with you but wanted to clarify the uniform code for September.

We are obliged to meet the Government's requirement of issuing only three compulsory Oasis Enfield Academy branded items. This means that we will require students to wear the following items, with the Oasis Enfield logo:

  • Blazer
  • PE top
  • Tie (which will continue to be the current blue tie with the oasis circle)

We are no longer expecting you to purchase a branded V neck jumper or branded PE shorts. A plain black V neck jumper will be permitted and navy sports shorts for PE. Lycra shorts for PE are not permitted.

With regards to the issue surrounding warm weather in the summer term, we will continue with the process we had in the summer term, where we relax the uniform code and allow students to wear a PE kit when the temperature is extreme. We have also introduced an extra summer option Oasis Enfield branded polo t-shirt, which is optional.

The Academy attendance target is 96%. We are currently at 92.3%. Your support in ensuring that you child attends school everyday is essential in securing success for them. Every day missed, means that opportunities to learn are missed and the chance of success is reduced.

Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield

Our ethos is rooted in what we believe and who we are. Grounded in our story, it is an expression of our character; a set of values that inform and provide the lens on everything we do.

  • A passion to include
  • A desire to treat people equally respecting differences
  • A commitment to healthy, open relationships
  • A deep sense of hope that things can change and be transformed
  • A sense of perseverance to keep going for the long haul

It is these ethos values that we want to be known for and to live by. We are committed to a model of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope, and perseverance throughout all the aspects of the life and culture of every Oasis Hub and academy community.

We encourage every member of our family, be that staff or student, to align themselves to these ethos values. The values themselves are inspired by the life, message and example of Jesus but we make it clear that we will not impose on anyone, the beliefs that underpin our ethos values. We recognise and celebrate the richness that spiritual and cultural diversity brings to our community, respecting the beliefs and practices of other faiths in the hope that we will provide a welcoming environment for all.

9 Habits at Oasis Academy Enfield 9 Habits at Oasis Academy Enfield

To help us in this process of personal growth and development we have the Oasis 9 Habits. It is our bespoke and unique approach to character development. We know that by living the way of the Habits, the Oasis Ethos will become second nature to us.
