Math

Number sense routines are structures for talking about numbers, number concepts and number sense. They are designed to be flexible yet intentional by targeting specific components and engage students in mathematical discussion. Your Math in Practice books can be a valuable source resource. Here is a list of where you can find Eliminate It and Focus on the Question examples at each grade level. Both of these are a great way to change up the start of your math workshop time. If you don't have a Math in Practice book, check with me. We have gotten a few more copies and I would love for you to have one to use in your classroom.

Literacy Corner

For Everyone-

I found this Two Writing Teachers blog post around background noise very interesting. Did you know that the optimum background noise level could be around 70 decibels?

K-2 Teachers-

Here is a great blog post from Two Writing Teachers about using punctuation in writing.

3-5 Teachers-

As we begin thinking about work in Literary Essay and TDA< here is a great Facebook video comparing and contrasting the two. Lee Motley is so smart and her teaching never disappoints!

In addition, here is a resource that I am currently working on that might help you choose books for this work. This is a work in progress, so some of the text links don't work yet. I'll continue to work on this.

Let me know how I can support your work!!
