Ashland Preschool Update

September 19, 2025
Hello Everyone,
Our preschoolers had a wonderful week of learning and growing together! In the classroom, students explored the letter B by coloring, practicing its sound, and brainstorming words and pictures that begin with B. As part of the Zones of Regulation curriculum, they also learned about the Blue Zone, discussing feelings such as being tired or sad and learning strategies to help themselves feel ready for play and learning.
Hands-on activities in classes included stamping letters into playdough, splashing and experimenting at the water table, and exploring textures at the sensory table. Students also continued to practice important social skills such as sharing, turn-taking, and cooperative problem solving.
Out on the playground, many are practicing how to pump on the swings independently, while others have been developing hand-eye coordination through games of baseball.
At Home Connection: Parents can support this week’s learning by going on a “letter B hunt” around the house. Together find objects that start with B, and practice turn-taking during simple family games. You might also talk with your child about times they feel “blue” and brainstorm together some strategies they can use, just like they are learning at school.
Take Care,
Amanda

📖 School Site Council: Parent Members Needed 📖
We are looking for parent representatives to join our School Site Council. Parent voices are an integral part of the conversations with administrators and teachers, and your input helps guide important decisions for our school community.
The Massachusetts Department of Education requires each School Site Council to work with the principal in:
-
Adopting educational goals that align with local and statewide standards
-
Identifying the educational needs of students in the school
-
Reviewing the annual school building budget
-
Developing a school improvement plan
Meetings are held once a month after school and last approximately 60 minutes.
If you are interested in serving on this year’s School Site Council, please email acurley@ashland.k12.ma.us and share a brief note about your interest.
