Hip Hop Classes at KJ Dance

2026-2027 KJ DANCE Save the Dates

Hip Hop

Get ready for high-energy fun! Hip Hop introduces dancers to a variety of street dance styles, including hip hop, popping, locking, krumping, and breakdancing, all taught using age-appropriate, family-friendly music. Dancers will build rhythm, coordination, confidence, creativity, and their own unique style in an energetic and encouraging environment.

Required Attire: Comfortable athletic clothing that allows for movement and clean tennis shoes or split-sole dance sneakers. Please make sure dancer's hair is pulled back, away from your dancer's face.

What should my dancer wear to class each week?

Hip Hop dancers should wear comfortable, movable athletic clothing with clean tennis shoes or split-sole dance sneakers. We can't wait to see your dancer's personality and style shine in class this season!

Will my dancer have a performance at the end of the year?

YES! All Hip Hop dancers will be a part of the KJ Concert at the end of the year! If your dancer attends one Hip Hop class each week, they will perform one exciting routine in our end-of-the-year show. We can't wait to watch them bring their energy and style to the stage!

What if my dancer wants to take another class each week?

Many of our Hip Hop dancers choose to take two Hip Hop classes each week or add a Jazz technique class to expand their training. The KJ faculty works hard to create a schedule that allows dancers to take classes back-to-back whenever possible. If your dancer is interested in adding another class, take a look at the classes offered immediately before or after their current class—there is often a great option that fits perfectly! Our office staff is always happy to help you find the best schedule for your dancer.

Can my dancer bring a friend to class?

Absolutely! Dance is always more fun with friends, and we'd love for your dancer to invite a buddy to join them!

Friends can always try a class for FREE! They will simply create an account at kjdance.com, add their dancer, and select the Drop-In class they'd like to attend. Our faculty will be notified of the trial and will be ready to welcome them.

If your friend loves class, they can easily enroll online or contact our office for assistance. We can't wait to welcome them to the #THEKJWAY family!

What if my dancer misses a class?

No worries! We would love for your dancer to make up any missed class in another Hip Hop or Hip Hop/Jazz Fusion class.

To schedule a makeup class, simply log in to your Studio Director account, select "Makeup Class," and choose another class that works best for your family's schedule. We look forward to seeing your dancer back in the studio soon!
