Wildcat Community,

As the countdown to summer is in the single digits, we’re cruising into the final stretch of the school year with equal parts excitement, exhaustion, and a suspicious amount of missing hoodies in the lost-and-found. Whether your student is powering through finals, checking off summer checkout tasks, gearing up for camps and weights, or already mentally on a beach somewhere far away from homework, this newsletter is packed with everything you need to finish the year strong. Take a few minutes to read through the updates, important dates, and summer opportunities—then hang in there… summer break is almost here!

As this school year comes to a close at Cedar Bluffs Public Schools, it is important that we send a huge thank you to all of our middle and high school staff (teachers, paras, cooks, custodians, office staff, and everyone in between) for the incredible work they do every single day. It takes a special group of people to keep a school running smoothly, especially while navigating busy schedules, endless questions, missing Chromebooks, and the occasional mystery smell in the hallway. The patience, hard work, and dedication of our staff makes a difference far beyond what students may ever realize. Thank you for showing up, supporting one another, and making Cedar such a special place for students to learn and grow. As summer break quickly approaches, I truly hope your summer is filled with rest, laughter, and at least a few weeks where nobody says, “I thought I turned that in?”

FINALS

Final exams will be held on Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20. It is essential that all students are present on both days, as exams will be administered during scheduled class times and there is very limited opportunity to make up missed finals.

If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to arrange a makeup as soon as possible. However, due to the tight schedule at the end of the school year, makeup times are not guaranteed. Any final exam that is not completed will result in a score of zero.

Please plan accordingly and make every effort to attend on both days.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL END OF YEAR CHECKOUT

Students will complete their checkout forms prior to leaving on Wednesday. In order to be eligible for early dismissal, students must have all checkout requirements completed. This includes paying any outstanding balances (lunch, college courses, library books, activites, summer camps), returning all school materials, taking home any medications, and obtaining signatures from each of their teachers/coaches/sponsors.

Once all items are completed and verified, students may leave early with parent/guardian approval. Parents are encouraged to call the school prior to Wednesday to provide permission for their student to leave early.

Please note that school buses will run on their regular 1:30 PM schedule, and students who do not have early dismissal approval will remain at school until that time.

SUMMER SCHOOL

The middle and high school summer program is designed as a credit recovery opportunity for students who have not successfully completed required coursework. Any student who fails a required class will be expected to attend summer school.

Families will be notified during the week following the last day of school once grades have been finalized. This ensures that all academic records are accurate before placement decisions are made.

Please be aware that not all courses are offered through the summer credit recovery program. In some cases, students may need to repeat a course during the regular school year if it is not available during the summer session.

Transportation will be provided to and from Fremont for students who need it. If your student requires transportation, please contact the school office at 402-628-2080 to make arrangements.

Program Details:

  • Dates: June 1 – June 25 (No classes on Fridays)
  • Time: 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Lunch: Served from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM

If you have any questions regarding the summer credit recovery program, please reach out to the office.

LOST & FOUND

Our Middle and High School lost-and-found collection is preparing for its summer vacation too! Any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the school year, so encourage your student to take one last look before their favorite hoodie, water bottle, or mystery lunch container finds a new home.

SUMMER WEIGHTS PROGRAM

Our summer weights program is right around the corner—please check out the calendar below for the full June and July schedule. Athletes will have designated lifting times based on boys and girls groups to keep sessions organized and effective. Following each weights session, Open Gym (OG) will be available, giving students extra time to work on skills, conditioning, and team play. It’s a great opportunity to stay active, build strength, and prepare for the upcoming season.
