Our Principals' Press

What an incredible week! We loved welcoming our Audubon grandparents and special visitors for Grandparents' Breakfast. The kids were thrilled to share a meal with their loved ones. On Thursday, families explored students' flight trackers, enjoyed dinner, emptied their wallets at the Book Fair, and participated in fun family activities

.

A big thanks goes out to our Cafeteria Staff for the delicious meals, Mrs. Allen (Library-Media Specialist) and volunteers for hosting the Book Fair, Mrs. Kelly May (Family Resource Center Coordinator) for planning Eagle Family Night, and our staff for making Family Week a success.

And thank YOU for supporting your children and our Audubon Family! We appreciate your partnership!

In the Monday Morning Assembly last week, Mrs. Velotta focused on Rule #3: No Bullies Allowed! This week, we're moving onto Rule #4: Love your Passengers. At Audubon, we teach students about Empathy. This is a perfect Guideline for Success to wrap into rule # 4.

Ask your child about this at home and see if Rule #4 carries over to life outside of school.

If you'd like to know more about The Energy Bus for Kids click on the link below for a YouTube read Aloud.

The Energy Bus for Kids Read Aloud

What is PBIS? What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide approach designed to improve students' behavior and create a positive school environment. It focuses on teaching and encouraging good behavior through clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and consistent consequences. The goal is to help students succeed academically and socially by promoting respectful and responsible behavior. One way that we promote expected behavior is through our work with the Zones of Regulation.

The Zones of Regulation is a tool we use in school to help students identify and manage their emotions. It groups feelings into four color-coded zones: Blue (sad, tired, or bored), Green (calm and ready to learn), Yellow (frustrated, anxious, or excited), and Red (angry, out of control). By recognizing which zone they’re in, students can learn strategies to manage their emotions and return to the Green Zone. Parents can use the Zones at home by helping children label their emotions and encouraging calming activities, like deep breathing or taking a break, to manage difficult feelings.
